Oh, I've been in the depths of work hell all day, and this brightened things up a lot. I really appreciate that these pictures aren't staged - all through the Bush administration (both Bushes, actually) all the photos like this were so plastic, so forced, and with these I can feel the action in there - the noise and the regular chaos that accompanies big groups of kids. It's so refreshing.
There were just never never smiles like this when the Bushes were around. Never. Not even in their early days. Sometimes, I feel like these two leave an almost literal path of flowery sunshine in their wake.
@SkipToMyLou: Funny, I was thinking the same thing! I have been in two venues in my life in which I was in the same room with Pres. Bush (the second one) and no one was enthusiastic about him. Oh, the businesspeople ran up to shake his hand and shmooze but they were never excited about it. They just wanted to say they'd shaken the hand of a president.
But Obama? I was in Selma, Ala. in 2007 when no one thought he had a chance in hell of winning the nomination, let alone the presidency, and the crowds to hear him speak were insane. People were so excited.
May I recommend my Ceviche Recipe in honor of Cinco de Mayo? Serve it with a giant pile of guacamole and some chips.
Ingredients 2 lbs tilapia fillets or other firm white fish fillets, cubed 8-10 garlic cloves, chopped 1 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon black pepper 2 teaspoons fresh cilantro, chopped 1 habanero pepper, seeded and chopped 8-12 limes, freshly squeezed and strained to remove pulp, enough to cover fish 1 red onion, thinly sliced and rinsed
Directions 1) Combine all ingredients except red onion and mix well. 2) Place red onion on top and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2-3 hours before serving. 3) Before serving, mix well *It is important to use a juicer that squeezes the juice out of the limes, not one that will tear the membrane of the lime sections since this will make the lime juice bitter.

Suddenly the pile of work doesn't look quite as daunting. Thank you Anna for pointing me in the direction of the cuteness!!
