My aunt lost one of her cats, at 19, a week ago. Hopefully she gets to meet Socks--I'm sure they'd be fast friends.

I have my own tuxedo kitty, plus an orange man. The former is currently playing with a bottle cap, bless her.

When my Casey dog died last spring, I told her to watch for my cat-crazy grandma to take care of her.
She's the one with all the cats (Big Red, Pookie, etc.) and dogs (Boots, Matilda, etc.) around her! Give her a shout and she'll be glad to take care of you!

Today is definitely a kitty-hugging day.

Thanks for the letter you wrote back to me in 5th grade, complete with paw print signature. I'm pretty sure I still have it tucked away in a scrapbook somewhere. Enjoy your time with ceiling cat.

This is kind of unrelated, but I thought it would be a fitting tribute. I have a dear friend who has two beautiful rescued "tuxedo" cats with little white paws, and she sent me some pictures of them to cheer me up after I had the "blahs" from coming home from vacation. Her cats are unrelated, but they are BEST FRIENDS, and I just love them to bits. So, because of her nice gesture, I drew a picture of her kitties.
So, really, this has nothing to do with Socks, but it's kind of coincidental, and I thought it would be kind of a cute tribute. I do love tuxedo-cats with black and white markings. They're adorable.
It also reminds me of a little anecdote that my grandma once told me. Our entire family has always loved cats--we're all crazy cat people. When my cousin was very young, my grandma says, years and years ago, he was apparently quite worried about what would happen if he died and went to heaven. Specifically, he loved the company of cats, and he couldn't bear the thought of an eternity with no kitty friends.
"Well," said my grandma, wisely, "if heaven is full of things that make you happy, and cats make you happy, I think there will be cats there."
Godspeed, Socks, and may there be lots of salmon treats in kitty heaven.

In related news, my sister's kitty went missing 5 weeks ago, and she searched high and low, and I've been dreaming that he was found and then crying when I realized it was a dream AND HE WAS FOUND TODAY. ALIVE AND KICKING!

Just don't board any planes after you win.
Also, YAY KITTY! (Seriously, I'm SO EXCITED he's back!)
