If I thought they would bother to read it, I would create a dictionary for these people.
Included would be the definition and history of words like fascism, communism, racism, Nazism, socialism. But by God the first word defined would be "FEMINISM".
It is not a bad word people. Just because you ascribe negative values to it, does not make you correct.
@curiousgeorgiana: Add a definition for the First Amendment as well. If I hear this journalism major misstate the First Amendment one more time I'll scream. Well, I've been screaming. Maybe I'll just start crying.
@snintn: To her, the First Amendment means that she can say whatever ridiculous thing she wants without any consequences, and in turn, nobody can say anything bad about her, ever. She can have opinions, but nobody can have negative opinions about those opinions.
I saw Fairfax, VA and my heart just sank. It's roughly 20 min from where I live. What the fuck.
Also, even if it's true that a male candidate wouldn't have been ridiculed as hard as she was/is, that doesn't negate the fact that she says some stupid, stupid shit. And that's ignoring the actually scary ideas she has. Ugh.
"I'm not so sure I would put a label on her as a feminist. She presents herself feminine … The impression is that feminists are women who don't like to value their feminine qualities, and they like to put it down and be like a man, and I don't think that's appropriate for women. I kind of like her in that regard, that she's sort of celebrating her womanhood as well."
Fuck you. Oh, oops - was that use of profanity too masculine? Silly me.
@femme-bot: Spot. On. I am lulzing so hard at my desk.I would like to co-opt your response and apply it to the supporter who said that Palin's "femininity" gets in the way of her feminism. And my dear Palin supporter, if you don't understand the implications of the terms you're using, don't use them. Also, don't vote based on them.
Oh, jeez. I had a whole witty reply, but at this point, the celebration of stupid is really getting me down. If WWII gave us "The Greatest Generation", Dubya gave us "The Stupidest Generation". It'll be a wonder if any of us make it out alive.
@TheFormerJuneBronson: Okay, now instead of a nuclear war or a zombie pandemic, I'm now super scared of giant floating brain aliens taking over our minds.
And, gosh, then Sarah Palin will save our lives, seeing as she sounds like the equivalent to Fry in terms of making sense*...
*Fry: I used to drink a hundred cans of Cola a week, right up to my third heart attack.
@ameliabearhart: In realistic terms, I thought it would probably be "Crimes of the Hot." The educational video about how they just drop a giant cube of ice into the ocean every once in a while and fix things once and for all--ONCE AND FOR ALL! Truth.
@TheFormerJuneBronson: That is exactly what I thought when I saw the SuperFreakonomics people on The Daily Show--because their ideas were EXACTLY LIKE THAT.
@bluewine: You know, I work so hard at not thinking to myself that people are idiots. I mean, that's an elitist, cruel, judgmental thing to think, and probably not even entirely true. But then something like this comes around, and the OMG, I had no idea this many people were this idiotic! rears up in my head and makes me feel like a bad person all over again. But sincerely? Do they hear themselves? On what planet does any of it make sense, let alone amount to something admirable or virtuous?
@TheFormerJuneBronson: I've gotten over feeling like a bad person for thinking people are idiots, but it took me awhile to get here. I'm calling a spade a spade...if these people are stupid enough to say these things, I'm honest enough to call them stupid.
@TheFormerJuneBronson: Perhaps it's elitist, cruel and judgmental, but it's also accurate. Individual people can be intelligent, but they're (we're?) salmon swimming upstream. As a whole? We're a species of idiots. And I say that with as much love and affection for my fellow humans as I can muster.
@BrutallyHonestBabes (aka Mrs. Sarah.of.a.Lesser.Hobbit): That's what scares me the most. Basically, they're rewarding her for wallowing in her ignorance and not even pretending to want to be knowledgable. She's not just the anti-intellectual, she's the anti-basic knowledge. And her fans eat that up.
This absolutely reeks of the way in which an idiotic constituency spoke of GWB--"golly, I'd like to have a beer with the feller, so he's a good president, because he believes what he says and says what he believes, and he's Christian, praise Jesus."

For women, she represents principles, life principles, and for the country she represents principles also.
