I'm pretty sure the Bible verse does NOT go "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whosoever believeth in him could make an obscene amount of money marketing glossy versions of his word and telling other people what to do."
I identify as a Christian, and a feminist (a pro-choice one, to boot). This is hard, as in my view some people who identify as Christians have their priorities all messed up. Not to toot my own horn, but a few weeks ago I went out with friends to a city park to hand out homemade muffins and talk to the homeless there. I view doing something like that as living a more Christ-like life than sitting at home quietly exuding virtue to inspire a man to do something good.
Also, my boyfriend is agnostic and feminist, so that probably wouldn't work on him.

Is this really new? Born Agains like making sure everyone has their gender role seat belt fasted, heterosexual tray table in the upright position and in case of black people an oxygen mask will drop from the ceiling.
That sort of thing is their bag, baby. It's their bread and butter. And I will eat my hat if James Dobson doesn't secretly get off to it.
I mean the Catholics try to pull the same move, but there's only a certain amount of gravity you can give to it when they've got a leader who's a make up artist away from being Divine (zing!). #godslittleprincessdevotionalbi...

I haven't seen the boys one, though! One of my biggest pet peeves working in the kids' section is the blatant gender separation in some books, and the insistence of certain parents/grandparents/etc. that something is "a boy's book" or "a girl's book". I often stick to recommending sci-fi/fantasy type books when I can, because they tend to be much more gender-neutral. Having a parent refuse to buy the Rainbow Magic Fairy book that their son requested because it's too "girly" is just soul-crushing. #godslittleprincessdevotionalbi...

It says things like "Boys like girls who are quiet." It doesn't even try to cover things up with the princess theme. It just comes out and says that women need to act a certain way.
The worst part is that Revolve is super popular, fucking A. #godslittleprincessdevotionalbi...

(Those "WWJD?" bracelets got a bad rap, but the answer to that question is never, "Treat women like servants," or "Blame Satan for human failings," you know?) #godslittleprincessdevotionalbi...

@Raised-byHeathens: I had an upbringing much like you. Not very religious. Mum's Catholic but she never made us go to church. I'd say the most religious thing we did was Easter and Christmas. There are bibles in the house and we scribbled on the overwrought pictures inside half the time. But I read it a few times and I loved Jesus Christ Super Star. So the Jesus I grew up with was way laid-back and groovy, with the cheese-cloth and the long hair and the loving mankind, you know? LOL! When I finally ran into evangelical born-agains, I was like, "Woah! Which Jesus have they been following? He's nothing like the one I know! The one I know is hanging back with all the other Gods and chillin' and being generally nice to everyone."
So, in answer to WWJD? I'd say, "Probably not what you think he'd do." #godslittleprincessdevotionalbi...

It still does.
"in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them"
Man and Woman are both created in God's image. God is gender neutral.
Except, everywhere else in the Bible, God is called He. Not She. Not It. Not Neuter. Not Shim. He.
Jesus didn't have any problems with women. He was more accepting of them than the rest of his society.
Heck, I wanted to be a princess when I was very young, not a prince. Being rescued was cooler to me back then that having to face the dragon. Let some one else take all the risks and I can just sit back and look pretty.
Oh well, the "slider" that is gender-identity definitely doesn't mesh with Biblical views on the sexes. #godslittleprincessdevotionalbi...
