I went to see the birth certificate, and I couldn't see a refute, just a bunch of quotes from Orly Taitz. Of course this is WND, but are they that crazy that no other news org picks them up?
It's getting harder and harder to tell original material form copied material, thanks to the Internet. This is why there has been so much legal wrangling over copyright as it pertains to Internet content.
I quoted you as you and not Jezebel Megan but I get the point, a lot of papers do just use the blog as shorthand for the writer and that would drive me nuts as well. That apart yay for the Johann Hari shout-out he is indeed always worth reading - although more so his stuff on the Telegraph than his column in the Evening Standard, which probably isn't on the internet when I think about it.
Otherwise birthers are so ridiculous that they make my head hurt and yes the Obama administration have screwed up on detainees. I'm looking forward to the Rush blog.
@emilyanne: The detainee issue was never going to a simple proposition. The Bush administration spent a lot of time tying the law in knots, and convincing everyone that the detainees were "too dangerous" to house on American soil, even though to that point, we'd prosecuted plenty of terrorists who were housed in Federal facilities.
@emilyanne: Oh, no, you totally credited me by my name! It's not an issue when someone interviews me, but often when people quote my writing (and, again, not you). The New Yorker stands out in my mind, for some reason.
Wow, Miss USA and those inmates have a lot more in common than I had previously thought.
1. They probably were not involved in terrorist activities 2. Their mothers are probably very worried about them 3. People are making money off of them being there 4. After they're released, the biggest difficulty faced by US authorities is trying to figure out where to deport them.

Also, the Miss USA pageant is this Sunday. Will there be an open thread on it or at least a post about it on Monday?
