I LOVE MY GLASSES. i think that they are one of my most pivotal features and i have been wearing them almost non-stop since the third grade.

i have contacts that are probably past expiration and i only wear them to play sports (i.e. NEVER).

and guys totally make passes.

I've worn the same style specs for 5 years now. I found a style that works and stuck with it. I'd look like a fool with the big ones. I only wear contacts when I'm either in costume or on stage with my band, cuz people used to always say, "we want to see your face!" and I'm the only girl in the band, and the lead singer, so fuckit.

Since I normally wear contacts, I get self-conscious when I wear glasses--even though I really like my frames and think I look pretty good in them--because it's like admitting to the public that I was rushed that morning, even if that's not why I wanted to wear my glasses. I might worry about that more than is necessary...

I have black frames with sparkly detailing on the sides. Biznez in front, party on the sides. When I wear glasses up in the club, I ALWAYS get hit on. Go figure.

@betakitty: Yea mullet glasses! Mine are black up front, pink with black fishnet pattern on the sides. Get compliments on them all the time. I just got them over the summer, and they make me incredibly happy- mostly because I never really liked a pair of glasses before. Either I had to wear them, or I got contacts and they were for home only.

Contacts are the biggest bitch I've met in a while. More power to crazy frames. Only chickas with cajones wear them here in the middle of the US. I'm considering buying a giant pair just to see what happens...my face is a little long for that though.

I have only 2 pairs, but I'm thinking about giving up the 'tacts FORREVVAAAAAAA!

@Sodypop: I bought mine from there, and they're good ones. They look EXACTLY like the $200 burberry pair I had found at lenscrafters, but they cost $19.

@Sodypop: I've often considered buying a spare and/or really brightly colored "fun" pair from there but I always worry about them fitting right on my nose because the plastic frames aren't adjustable that way.

I got glasses for the first time in high school, and it changed my life! (for the better). Framewise for me, it's go cool or go home. People are going to see your glasses no matter what, so they're as integral to my "look" as my haircut is.

My first pair were that two-layer plastic stuff, with dark brown on front and amber behind. The edges were scalloped to show off the amber, and they had rhinestone detailing. Despite how this sounds, they weren't ridiculous at all, but huge compliment-getters.

I usually wear contacts, but when I do wear glasses I like them flashy. I have three pairs: all look like Rita Skeeter's from Harry Potter. One lime green, one orange, and one black and white. They're fabulous, even if my boyfriend calls them my Dame Edna Tribute glasses.

I had to start wearing glasses at 19. I picked out the least conspicuous pair I could find (thin half-rims). When I broke those (literally in half), I replaced them with a nearly identical pair. Last fall, I broke those in half (sigh --- must stop falling asleep and rolling over on glasses), and I went to a local shop having a 2 for $99 (including lenses!) sale. I picked out a plain, boring pair much like my old ones. And then the salesgirl convinced me to try on different styles. I was so sure that funky plastic frames didn't fit my face, and they didn't... in black. But she had me try on some tortoise shell ones, and they looked really chic. I bought them as my "back-up" pair, and 5 months later, I'm still wearing them every day. They make me feel hot, and I didn't think I could really feel that way in glasses. :)

I still take them off for photos because of the glare though. :-/

Sorry mom, but if the implication is that a nice boy won't marry me because I'm not attractive thanks to my nerdy emo glasses, then you've got other problems on your hands. Like the fact that I'm not into dudes.

I've needed vision correction since she 10, wore contacts at 13 and took to them like a fish in water. As a ballerina, soccer star and thespian, glasses just got in the way. I got lasik at 30 and its the best couple thousand I've ever spent. But I miss my sexy nerd look, so I have a pair of blank frames I like to whip out when I wanna look like Eva mendes in hitch.

Sadie: I cannot wear contacts either. For the same reason as you.

I wouldn't make the jump to contacts even if I could. I think I look better in glasses. I am chubby, and have a chubby, round face. My cheeks are the dominant feature. When I put my glasses on (wide, oval, thin framed things), the effect is that they magnify my eyes, so my eyes suddenly become the dominant feature, and my cheeks are reduced. The wide oval of the glasses also give the illusion that my face is more heart shaped than round.

@anibundel: I have the same problem. I have a fat face and a giant head, and those nice Ferragamo numbers were so flattering on me. They were wider than the widest part of my face, so they made my face look narrower.

@St. Francis of a Sissy: Mine aren't like a big designer name, I don't think. They're made by jubilee. I love them though. I also love that my lenses are Transitions lenses. BEST decision i EVER made.
