    I will say that most dressing rooms on Broadway are depressing little holes, even the "star" dressing rooms. The theaters are old, the backstages are teeny, and often the cast has to climb several flights of stairs just to get to their dressing rooms. It's absolutely not glamorous at all.

    I worked as a PA on A Raisin in the Sun, and even P. Diddy's dressing room was very small. Too small for his entourage, in fact.

    Oh, and side note: Phylicia (sp?) Rashad: just as wonderful and nice as she seems on TV. What a gracious lady. I heart her! #customdressingrooms

    I enjoy the ridiculous as much as anyone, but maybe, just maybe...

    MAYBE if productions weren't providing stars with interior decorators, then MAYBE they wouldn't have to charge $130 for a ticket, then MAYBE they could afford the financial risk of a new show instead of the endless revivals, movie adaptations, and jukebox musicals, then MAYBE Broadway could once again be relevant. Like it should be. Just a thought. #customdressingrooms

    Do they pay for it themselves? If so, rock on. Interior decorators need work just like everyone else. But if they are making the theater pay for these upgrades, its diva behavior. #customdressingrooms

    @clevernamehere: Yes, I worked on an indie music mag so I saw what bands received in their dressing rooms: a moldy couch, cold cuts and beer. I must remember for the divas it may well be that everyone bends over backwards. What color M&M was banned? Argh. #customdressingrooms

    @Rose.Selavy.Needs.A.Drink: I heard a story about the M & M thing: a band put that in their contract rider because their show had a lot of really technical and complicated pyro. Which could be dangerous if not properly installed by the venue. So they put the ridiculous M & M thing in the contract to make sure the venues actually read them. #customdressingrooms

    @SaturdaysChild: Yep, they used that rider so they had an easy way of making sure the entire contract had been read. That article is on snopes.com and John Flansburgh from They Might Be Giants talked about it on episode 386, "Fine Print" of This American Life. #customdressingrooms

    @SaturdaysChild: Yeah, it was Van Halen and that happened back in 1981. Back in those days they used that to promote their "bad boy" image so that's why I used that example of Diva. Now of course they are all like " ooo, we wanted people to read the contract!" Uh-huh. #customdressingrooms
