    My mother told me last night when Rachel Maddow interrupted her show to say that Barbara Bush had had open-heart surgery, the first thing that popped to mind was "She has a heart?!?" It made me laugh.


    But still, that is cruel. He was a way better president than his son and he was freaking crying. Better respect next time MSNBC.


    Though Brad does look dreamy. And weirdly, very happy to be there.

    @Takahashi-Sensei: I've met her several times because she lives in my town part-time, and they've both been nothing but gracious.


    I guess I say it in a broader sense. Like how when Roosevelt and Churchill met in WWII, and Roosevelt got out of his wheelchair and walked up the Churchhill, even though it was incredibly painful for him, and none of the press too photos out of respect. These days they'd pay a million bucks for shit like that...


    I don't know. I feel like people like the President used to be respected and revered whether or not you agreed with them ideologically, cause it was America and he was the President. This is probably just my overly romantic historian idealism setting in.

    Men in suits make me go weak in the knees. I was once stuck in O'Hare airport for 12 hours and I about had to get a hotel room to recover from all the men-in-suit sightings. The unbuttoned collar and "I have somewhere important to be" look are just getting me all hot and bothered. Sigh.

    @silkyjumbo: I stopped seeing a guy who declared he didn't "believe" in wearing suits. Orilly? Like, not even to a black tie event? He said he'd never go to anything so pretentious and snobby. So I dumped him and found another date to the AIDs Charity Ball. Ya know, the pretentious and snobby one.


    I mean, I broke it off for a number of reasons, but the suit thing was the final straw.
