How does a man take it in the butt and not feel a little homosexual?
I remember watching Tyra's interview with Sasha Grey and how hard she tried to make Grey feel like a misguided whore. Now Grey is going to play the lead in Steven Soderbergh's next movie.
lots of "straight men" take it up the butt - hence strap ons. there's a little sexual organ called the prostrate which isn't called straight or gay but that makes them cum. the butt isn't just a gay thing.
I saw this episode last nite (tks DVR!) and Tyra's condescending attitude was coming off in waves. She's not a very effective interviewer if she barely masks her distate.
And her whole 'the gays love & worhsip Tyra' speech was so annoying.
I hate the whole LOOK AT ME I CAN FUCK MEN IN THE ASS AND TOTALLY CLAIM TO NOT BE GAY OR AT THE LEAST BISEXUAL. I know that sexuality is fluid. But having sex with men whether for emotional or financial reasons makes you GAY or at the very most bisexual.
@lanersg: Yes, thank you. She's not interested in an open, educational dialogue. It's always about ratings. The Jerry Springer show degenerated into what it is (was? is that show still on?) today because of the tactics you mentioned, not that it was all too charming to begin with. I think sensational is a perfect word to describe her show.
I think the real question here is how does this 19-year-old have three kids?
I, personally, am against the sex industry for men AND women. However, I think that women are judged more for being porn stars and strippers because we have, throughout history, been thought of as "lesser." Now that we have entered an age when women are beginning to assert themselves as equals, people wonder how some women can still take on jobs which are considered degrading. I think it's equally degrading for males and females, but others don't think it is because men are thought of to be "stronger" and more "in control," whatever that mean.
Just a thought on the double- standard: I always thought with 2 women, it's not the same level of determination (for lack of a better word). In short, with 2 guys, somebody has to be willing to take it big & hard up the ass- which in my opinion, would feel like something from Saw VIII, and the guy who's the top in this situation, would have to be willing to have full contact with shit....I know a lot of people participate in anal, & that's fine for them. But, I know a lot of other people, myself included, that don't want to smell or touch shit. For some of us, when shit rolls in, the mood rolls out.
you so obviously know little about anal sex if you mistakenly think 1) it feels like any Saw movie and 2) ypu assume shit is always, if ever, involved. it doesn't really go down like that.
@hughman: Hey, it wasn't meant as an insult. I think people should do whatever they want to do. I'm just telling you that among people who don't do anal- that discussion/question comes up. It's not just me who thought that, or thinks it. Yeah, a lot of people think, oh wow, if you shove something up an asshole- feces, or traces of it, is what's up there. For me, no- I do not want contact with anybody's colon. But, that's me. When people talk about what's involved in different acts- it educates. So, there's really no need to be condescending.
as dear Chuffed noted, I was very (very) charitable to you and not in the least condescending, i could have called you ignorant, homophobic and blatantly sexually uneducated which i did not. count your blessings. i've obviously been here commenting on Jez a lot longer than you so i know what i'm doing.i don't waste time on the small stuff.
the bottom line is the whole concept seemed to propagate the idea that being gay is just all about some guy fucking another guy since, according to "people" like rick warren, it's only about the sex. um, being gay is about a lot more ty-ty. she acted all like an alien on ANTM but does anyone say to her, "Tyra are you really an alien?" uh, no. cause it's called ACTING.
and why the straight bartenders were called in is beyond me. they mix drinks and stand behind a bar, not take it up the rear. jeez.
i've met and Met (cough cough) a lot of gay porn stars (and met a few women porn stars too, after all, i live in LA). the girls i've met and hung out with are sweet and fun. we'd have cocktails and go shopping and i'd willingly be their Gay Pet for the day. two friends of mine are also straight male porn stars and i have to say they are in some ways cooler than the gay porn actors i know but maybe that's because the whole "tension" thing is off the table between us. btw, neither of them are short and while one was a Playgirl centerfold, the other actually did nudes for a gay photo company years ago.
tyra's show was funny but not at all for interesting reasons. mainly cause she knew (or her producers did) that the mere notion of GAY SEX would make the audience there all squirmy.
@hughman: i agree. it was more about it being guy on guy vs. sex for money.
instead of asking about safe sex practices or if there are fair labor practices in the porn community - Tyra asks if the guys GIVE or RECEIVE Christmas presents -_-
There was an epi not too long ago where she and her audience were coming down hard on a legal prostitute (from The Bunny Ranch) about how she was selling her body for money and how she must not love herself yada, yada, yada...
But in my mind I was thinking, "Damn, Tyra, didn't you do the same thing"...
the whole porn industry is stupid; the women involved look like deranged barbie dolls, the guys are all short and decidedly average looking (that's a generous assessment); and it's all just a bunch of terrible actors who can't even pretend to be interested in one another, doing a bunch of crap that it's hard to imagine is at all pleasurable. no normal person has sex like that, and it's usually not even something that is some great fantasy (certainly not for most women), what's the point? seriously, the double standard that i'd like to know more about is why being "attractive" isn't a requirement for men to make it in the porn business, the way it supposedly is for women?
@BBsinead: Agreed. Y'know, some people just aren't into porn, but for what it's worth porn is as varied as any entertainment industry.
There are women who make porn FOR WOMEN, there are women who make porn for men. There are amateurs, there are glossy fake-titted flicks, there's even porn makers who advocate safe, good sex for all.
@sarcasticusername: Well, I think the reasoning behind having less attractive men as porn stars is that porn, for the most part, is made for men rather than women. A) The guys don't want to think that they're accidentally being turned on by a guy, and B) So they can self identify and assume that they themselves could be the guy doing the hot chick.
I guess I never both to think about the disparity b/t assuming that dude-on-dude performers are questioned about their sexuality and women who do girl-on-girl aren't if they say they're straight. Mostly because actual lesbians/bi girls have branched out to making porn with other lesbians/bi girls. It's definitely a niche in porn that's growing.
Also, it's much easier to tell that a chick is not really into or experienced with going down on another chick, but harder to tell with dudes boning.
@Scout: I also noticed the scratching. I'm not sure if it's a sign of lying. An abnormal and persistent behavior is definitely a sign of something but it's difficult to pinpoint. Often times in uncomfortable situations a person will resort to a behavior they've repeated in the past during similar confrontations/discussions/emotional states. I read a case study on persistent behavior like this, a section was on a girl who would repeatedly tuck her hair behind her ears over and over and over when she was walking alone, talking with someone she'd never met, or in other instances where she felt particularly uncomfortable or vulnerable. I'm not sure that it's fair to assume he's lying (also not saying this is what you were doing.) Tyra has a way of making people defend themselves, which makes anyone uncomfortable. She should consider asking open ended questions instead of ones that come across as accusations.
"no one ever really questions the sexuality of women who do girl-on-girl scenes, if they say that they're straight."
That is a good point if a girl does lesbian porn but claims to be straight no one second guesses her but if a guy goes gay porn and claims to be straight he must be in denial.
"The stuff that the guests said made a lot of sense, like how they're able to "turn it on" in front of the camera, the fact that there's really nothing "intimate" about filming a porn scene, and that when it comes down to it, porn is porn, and it doesn't really matter who or what you're having sex with, because there will always be a disconnect there."
This is why I have given up on porn, the actors never really seem to be into what they are doing because there is no real connection it is just to bodies bumping and grinding. I'd much rater see two people who are in a real relationship or at least two actors who are very are into each other, and when I say into I don't just mean physically.
