In reply to Celebrities React To Brittany Murphy's Death On Twitter
I gotta say, I'm getting a little bit tired of the beat down twitter is getting. Technology changes. Ways of communicating change. 75 years ago, people would have been horrified to think someone phoned to express sympathy, rather than sending a handwritten note. Fifteen years ago, people would have been horrified that someone emailed, rather than phoned. Yes, twitter is all about instant communication, but I don't think it makes the emotion, or the expression of it any less valid. An outpouring of sadness and grief is the same, regardless of the medium.

And for the record, I am pro handwritten note or personal phone call, and I don't think a tweet expressing grief means people will not do either of those.

@jen002: I was JUST thinking this. I don't use Twitter myself, but I do accept it's just a newer version of what we already do.

So tragic. And I can't help but hope this shakes La Lohan enough to change her ways. We all remember Tai with fondness all these years later, just like we would for Mean Girls' Katy.

Ashton Kutcher hasn't made me want to cry since "The Butterfly Effect, " and that was a very different kind of cry...

Is it weird that I think the one from Ebert is the best?

@Annabellie: I actually thought his was one of the nicest. He twittered as a journalist/film critic, not as a friend, and he noted her talent.

@Annabellie: Hmm, I don't know. I thought it was kind of sweet that he said she had "a genuine quality." I don't think a lot of critics gave her much credit, so it's nice to see Ebert pointing out that she did have "something."

@glammyme: @Matt Cherette: @marciax3: I have to admit, I don't own a cell phone, and I don't even know how to twitter, so it's a totally foreign medium. Maybe I misread the tone in the way some people misread the tone in emails?

Where did the "guido" hairstyle come from? That spiky, poofy thing that one guy is perfecting? Why is it popular? I'm always so fascinated by how certain styles emerge. Is it generally found only among "guidos"? If so, why?

I am obviously still in exam mode. I apologize.

Hello, my name is Beets and I'm kind of in love with The Situation. It's his little boy smile. I don't care how dumb he is, that smile melts me like butter and I can't really explain it. I just want to puppy pile him or something.

Also, well-done Tracie! I can tell you put a lot of thought into matching the montage with the song and I appreciated having a good laugh.
