Seriously Underwhelming Fashions At Underworld Premiere

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans premiered at L.A.'s ArcLight Cinemas last night, representing the first and last time any woman will voluntarily see the flick. Clothes —and shoes! — were appropriately awful.

The Good:

Lorraine Stewart (with Michael Sheen) is Joan Holloway glam in LBD.

Not always the easiest shape, but Garcelle Beauvais rocks the heck out of this tulip.

Christel Khalil actually makes the fedora look un-self-conscious!

Eleni Tzimas is — dare I say it? — Parisienne chic!

Not sure how I feel about the fact that Rhona Mitra is essentially just wearing a wedding dress, but the frock itself is pretty classic.

The Bad:
Vail Bloom: the salon called. They're going to need that robe back.

Like Elle Travis, we remember when these frocks were all the rage. Unlike her, we're not nostalgic!

The Ugly:
In so many ways, the Uglies are my favorites. I mean, how much chutzpah does Marta McGonagle have?

Fashions From 10,000 B.C.: Even Loincloths Would Have Been Comelier

As mentioned yesterday, is quite so exciting as a movie that smells like a flop from miles away. But the best thing about a bad movie is how really random celebs show up for its premiere. Take last night's screening of 10,000 B.C. Although Maria Sharapova, left, looked pretty (as did Camilla Belle, although I am already anticipating the wrath of many for my choice on that one) there was plenty of bad stuff to be seen on "stars" like Garcelle Beauvais and Michelle Trachtenberg. The full Good, Bad, and Ugly of the 10,000 B.C. premiere, after the jump.

The Good:
It's crazy, but I love Camilla Belle's one-shoulder look.
Aw, cute kid, Tim Roth. Even if he does look like he's being forcibly dragged.
Well don't Steven Strait and Lynn Collins look to me one of those potentially-trashy-but-painfully-attractive-looking couples.

The Bad:
As Tim Gunn would say, Garcelle Beauvais' dress is a little Holly Hobby.
Anyone else feell ike Aimee Teegarden's childish orange frock is worsened by the Hooters sign in the background?
Why does Michelle Trachtenberg look so dowdy? And drugged?

The Ugly:
There are no words to describe the leopard-on-leopard look being sported by April Scott. Well, except for "Holy fuck."

At Essence's Hollywood Event, Glamour Girls Abounded

Last night in Beverly Hills, Essence hosted a red-carpet event honoring Black Women in Hollywood. Katie Holmes (not black) came! Star Jones (not Hollywood) was also on hand! Katie, of course, looked gorgeous, as did so many of the other women in attendance, including Jada Pinkett Smith, Tatyana Ali (who embraced the best of California casual), Gabrielle Union (who made basic black glam), and Paula Patton, who was over-the-top in polka dots. Less successful looks were worn by Rashida Jones, Garcelle Beauvais, Layla Ali, Nia Long, Vivica A. Fox, and Kerry Washington. The full Good, Bad, and Ugly, after the jump.

The Good:
Despite the hand of Tom Cruise yanking her down the red carpet, Katie Holmes looks gorgeous.
The hair needs a little help, but I love Tatyana Ali's slouchy and bright laid-back look.
Gabrielle Union shines in black.
Jada Pinkett Smith's dress makes up for her zombie face.
Paula Patton's a pin-up girl!

The Bad:
There's just too much going on with Rashida Jones's dress: The one shoulder, the ruffles — pick a detail and run with it.
Layla Ali's dress is so bottom two on Project Runway material.
Too much bad color matched with too much sine makes for a miss for Garcelle Beauvais.
Nia Long: No, no, no.
Vivica A. Fox's offense? Having failed to update her look past 1996.

The Ugly:
I'm saddened to see that Kerry Washington strapped a tutu to her bust and then covered her body with sequins.
