One of the admin's alternate characters is the ship's linguist, and her character is Asian-Indian and when she listed the languages her character speaks, one of them is "Indian." As a big geography/languages person, obviously this really irritates me that people make this assumption that India has only one language and don't bother to research it, but I've tried not to make an issue of it so far.
However, one of my characters is also in the ship's language department and I know at some point the characters are going to compare which languages they know and such, and so now I'm wondering if maybe I should point this out. I'm never very good at doing this without being an asshole, though, and especially since she's the admin I don't want to seem like a know-it-all. Anyone have any advice on how to do this? (One thing I know is I plan to do it in a private message because I think it would be mean/embarrassing otherwise.)

I guess try to make it more, "Oh can you elaborate more?", than, "Did you not know that?"

It was depressing.

OR imagine, perhaps this older reader suffers from feeling the heel on my neck.
OR, this wins, I am drunk and angry. Yeah, fuck, that wins the late night lottery. It makes me shockingly honest and bitter.
Delete this? No. Mind asks are you sure? Heart says fuck it, who cares. Venting feels fine.
Go to bed? Yes.

It's of the top 10 public domain horror movies. It has google links to the following: Dementia 13, Phantom of the Opera, The Last Man on Earth, The House on Haunted Hill, Dr. Jeckyll, and Mr. Hyde, Night of the Living Dead, Dracula, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Nosferatu, and M.
Lately I've found Google video to have quite an extensive list of videos like MST3k, The Murder of Fred Hampton, The Dean Martin Roast of Frank Sinatra, etc. There really is a lot of cool stuff available.

After 2-3 years cycling between different mental health professionals trying to get a handle on my depression and anxiety, I basically stopped seeing my therapist and psychiatrist since the end f the school year last June. This wasn't really an intentional decision, I just never got around to making appointments after getting back to school, and started to think I was fine without it (I did this before for a while two years ago). Not having to deal with the astronomical bills was also nice. I also stopped taking my anti-depressants, for similar reasons.
For a while things were good, and I felt in control in a way I hadn't in a while. But I've started to feel myself going down a lot of the paths I've gone down before: unprovoked crying, binge-eating, thinking about self-harm a lot, unexplainable fear, etc. Things aren't that bad yet — I can get out of bed in the morning, I can more-or-less interact in social situations without freaking out — but I'm afraid it might get worse before getting better. And any time I try to think about the future in any way (I'm a college senior and need make plans for the next step) I just get this huge mental block and feel sick.
And I know the smart thing would be to start therapy again and talk to my psychiatrist to try to find a new medication. But the thought of making that happens seems so much more difficult than it is, and I start to feel like I'm just repeating history or treading water. I've been in this exact same situation before and I don't know how to make any lasting change. Do I just need to commit myself to therapy more? Find a new therapist? Suck it up?

Also I am looking at these prices and doubting I could ever justify spending that much for one day of my life. Holy shit.

I've progressed to looking at the trashy wedding photos in the reviews. Yes, that fake tan looks EXCELLENT against the white of your gown, honey.

I would have pointed out to her that her extremely low expectations of men are quite sexist. Those boys aren't acting like douchebags because they have penises. They're just douchebags.

Well, hell. Here I am at my parents' house again. I haven't lived here in almost fifteen years but driving down that little road still feels like coming home. My mom's all excited about a new tune she's learning (she plays nyckelharpa--the obscure Swedish "keyed fiddle" pictured here). My dad went out on an EMT call. I played a few tunes with my mom and then she went to sleep. I kept both of them up way past their bedtime waiting for me--I got here about 10 pm. They're so cute.
Tomorrow my mom and I will go visit my sister and distract her from medical school with shopping for a bridesmaid dress for me--my little sis is getting married next year. My mom and my sister are both awesome and I'm looking forward to spending time with them, nerdy brainiac women that they are.
I'm ending my 1 1/2 months of unemployment on Monday, even if it is working for one of the more evil companies in this country, it'll pay the bills while I finish my grad school applications.
So, as thanksgiving approaches, I'm feeling pretty thankful. And also for all the Jezebel bishes who have lightened my days and nights with your humor and your integrity. Thanks, all y'all. Keep on keepin on.

I just got home from New Moon ... it was good! So much better than the first. The new director (and I assume bigger budget) worked wonders. And I might even be moving over to Team Jacob, even though I know it's pointless.
And even though we were in a theater full of kids who giggled at inappropriate moments (like when Taylor Lautner make one of his sexy, smoldering, tortured werewolf faces), it was still a fun night. The highlight? A group of tweens yelling out in unison "real men sparkle" as the movie the started. It was truly hilarious, and even though I rolled my eyes, it was still nice to see kids get passionate about something that doesn't involve sex or drugs. (No bashing about the whole Mormon/stalker thing, pls!)

We didn't really think anything of it until tonight when we were in the Gopher Hole (that's what we call our late night food place) because my friend was performing with her acapella group. He not only grabbed the chair from our table and sat next to us, he took out a camera and began recording her.
Needless to say, we went to Public Safety. They were totally awesome about and actually really glad that we came to them because apparently most girls at my school don't. At the moment it doesn't qualify as harassment and the kid's just going to get a talking to, so hopefully this will be the end of it.

This situation reminds me of a pretty upsetting one I was in a year ago. Me and three of my girlfriends were at a party and a drunk guy kept getting way too inappropriate with us and wouldn't leave us alone. Finally, my friend had to push him away and it started a brutal fight between all of us. He ended up punching and choking one girl and tore another girl's earring out while me and my other friend were trying desperately to end it.
It saddens me that some guys must have force or at least legal interference to stop them and this is what can happen.
