    Eh, I don't know that Jolie has Botox. She might, or that may just not have been the most emotional moment they captured her in. She seems to express more with her mouth than her brows. I'm not invested either way, it just seems like a stretch.


    As much as I don't like a lot of over-the-top surgeries that seem to go overboard at Award's season...I'm kind of uncomfortable with the tone of the snark. It makes me sad that people end up looking nothing like themselves out of this need to not look like they're aging. This fear of aging thing we do, especially to women, needs to stop. It's okay not to look 20 when you're 60. It really is.

    OH MY GOD i am rewatching this mess on HD today and saw that when she held her dress out frim her as she walked offstage, SJP's dress is SEETHROUGH and she's only wearing miniskirt-length SPANX under it!!! (yes this needed caps). the filmy skirt's layered poufiness provides the only coverage.


    i had to rewind three times to make sure i wasn't mistaking what i was seeing.

    These were my favorite Oscars ever!

    Not to mention that I could see the search lights reflecting off the clouds when I went outside to walk the dog during a commercial. (Knock LA all you want, but sometimes this place truly feels magical.)

    I liked this year's Oscars more than the last few years. The Five Actress format was sweet, but the Five Actors were way too uptight.


    I totally did not get why the High School Musical Kids were everywhere. Isn't that a TV movie anyway?


    The cool kids section was a little messed up though. I think I see Seth Rogan, Leslie Mann, and Judd Apatow in the front, but they weren't even nominated. The actual nominees should outrank them, but that will never happen.

    Another thing that I thought was great about this year's ceremony is that they seem to have pulled back from the If you talk for longer than twenty seconds we're going to cue up the band and drown you the hell out kind of thing that has been going on in the last few. Jeez, this is a once-in-a-lifetime thing for most of these people, let them ramble a little, for heaven's sake. Not that listening to people just reading long lists of names is entertaining, but it had gotten to the point where they were just rudely rushing just about everyone off the first time they paused to breathe. It made me feel bad for them.

    @lucystrawberry only cares about ratings: Yah, that's what I do. And then I still end up watching the sound editing guys, cause sometimes they're funny too, in a spontaneous, non-slick kind of way.


    I remember Cuba Gooding and the hand he got from the audience when he just started gleefully shouting over the orchestra trying to play him off. Great moment.

    @BrutallyHonestZombies: I have to agree with you there. Every time I see Brad Pitt posing for the camera, he has this insufferably smug look on his face, as if he were God's gift. The thing is, I don't find him that attractive (except for in "Troy"--all bets are off there, haha) and secondly, he's not really a phenomenal actor. Daniel-Day Lewis, Sean Penn, Mickey Rourke, De Niro, Hopkins, Brando, Newman, etc. are all gifted actors. I do not consider Brad to be in their echelon; he seems to get a free pass because he is considered to be so conventionally good looking.

    sometimes i feel that way. i get really annoyed that there is so much coverage over brad when I don't feel he has done anything that astounding. then I remember fight club, i mean cmon! it may not be the godfather something like that but it was pretty intense.

    @vamvaki_poulaki: Interestingly enough, I've never seen "Fight Club", although I know I should. If I ever did, it would be more for Ed Norton than for Brad Pitt, but from what I hear, it is a good movie. Yet I still can't rank Pitt with the likes of Day-Lewis and Penn.
