Love ya, Forever 21. Where else can I get a whole new cute wardrobe for 100 bucks? And the funny thing is, their stuff is sturdier than Urban Outfitters'.
There is just no reason for Anthropologie's clothes to cost as much as they do. Even if I could afford it, I wouldn't shop there on principle, though I like their stuff.
Is this the part where I bitch about the insufficient range of sizes among most shoe brands? My non-sample-size ass can't take refuge in a pair of beautiful stilettos if two inches of heel is falling off the back of the designer's largest size.
Salma is one of only women in the world who actually looks good in Balenciaga which is funny, considering that they'd never use someone with her curvy figure in their ads.
Sophie Dahl, bless her, cannot write for toffee. She's as twee as a pink thatched cottage with roses round the door.
Assomeone in the Mail's comments pointed out, she's tried to pass off a posh hotel/cookery school as "a little Irish guest house". I wish publishers would actually hire ghosts/editors to make celeb books good.
Meanwhile, out there somewhere is a man or woman who's put in years in the food world, who's got some real experience and expertise, and who won't get a book deal.
Ha, if you think shoes don't pass judgement, you got another thing coming. As someone with size 11 feet, jeans are much easier to find than cute shoes in that size. I eagerly await for the day Cosmo does a shocking expose on the existence of 'plus-size' shoes.
@Deborah2000: My shoes are often mistaken for small watercraft, and my size is one of the easiest to find on sale. My powers are at their greatest at the end of the season, when all the pygmy-footed 8s and 9s have shopped to their hearts' content. Because then the 10s and 11s remain, marked down 50%.
@TatianaTheAnonymousModel: But the steeply discounted size 11s are always giant orthotic granny-boats! Just because I'm paying less than half price for 'em doesn't make 'em pretty.
Then again, I look for shoes from places like Marshalls and Nine West, so we may have vastly different shoe experiences.
I don't know what news is sadder, that Filene's Basement could close or that it may bring DSW down with it. Both are major assets to my shopping habits.
Although Filene's and I are still in a bit of a fight after they closed the one in White Plains, taking the DSW with them, because they didn't want to compete with a Nordstrom Rack moving into the same building. The Nordstrom Rack is awful and Filene's would have blown them out of the water. Hmpf.
There are like tens of thousands of items in Forever 21. How the heck can you identify nine garments as being too close to your own? Seriously, I get so overwhelmed when I go into there.
Also, it's interesting that Kate Moss article cites Playmates as a decent economic indicator--BF has a subscription (incidentally, I love it--really does have some great interviews and writing) so I get to see it all the time.
The last few covers have featured Carol Alt, Lisa Rinna, and Carmen Electra--none of whom bear much resemblance to the blonde nymphets that prevailed for the last few years.
@elitza owns the last Enzo shirt: There's a theory somewhere about how the worse an economy gets, the more "comfort-sized" women get, and the converse -- the economic booms of the 20s and 60s coinciding with the rise of the flapper and Twiggy.
I'm too Monday-logged to parse it much past that, though.
@Rooo sez BISH PLZ: I'd say it goes back to wanting what's less common--plumper women get more attractive during lean times because they appear well-fed; slimmer women appear more attractive during booms because they'd have the leisure time and options to become/remain slim.
Right. Maybe the reason Kate Moss isn't twig-comparable anymore is she's older (ie our bodies change as we age) and/or healthier (ie not on coke)? Is the Times of London always so ridiculous?
