Paula's HSN co-pilot is something else. She hasn't bothered to even TRY mastering the fine art of bullshit. She just blathers on meaninglessly. Where do they find these people? What 'qualifications' do they look for? I really want to peer inside the HSN human resources department and find out what they're thinking.

@jejune - the giraffe hugger: She does. I think it was from cheerleading/dancing. I know a girl who was the tiny cheerleader/flyer, and her body is ridiculous fucked up from cheering. She's 32 and has had multiple surgeries.

@laos: I took a mystery pill once for cramps(it turned out to be a very strong Vicodin) which made me feel like I had been chugging vodka for the past 5 hours. It was totally slurred speech ridic. But I don't know what she's on.

@laos: Muscle Relaxers and Benzodiazapines both can make someone slur thier words a lot. Narcotic pain meds can also make you slur. Yup, I am a recovering addict--I know this.

I know she's probably a drunk or a pill-popper, but there are other possibilities. My Mom has a condition called Myasthenia Gravis that causes her speech to be slurred, esp. if her meds aren't working. Never mind... my Mom doesn't design terrible jewelry and make really loopy comments.

@smallcritic: It sucks when people assume things when you really have a medical condition that you have no control over. I have Spina Bifida and scoliosis. I sort of "waddle" a bit (my legs are somewhat crooked, and I can't walk normally), and my belly sticks out in front because of where the curve of my spine is. Some mean girl told everyone I was pregnant when I was in the 7th freakin' grade. I was also given the nickname of The Penguin (for the waddling).

@smallcritic: I think she has stated that she has a condition that causes her to have chronic pain--but she has never said anything about MG to my knowledge. But she also stated that she does not take any pain meds for her condition....

@skittishpixie: I can empathize with you. I never had a back brace (my scoliosis was and is the least of my problems), but it definitely did distort the way I walk. Now that I'm older (27), I'm getting a hump in the top of my back and I'm taking osteoporosis prevention medicine. I may as well be 80 on some days!

@smallcritic: I was diagnosed with MG in 2001. MG can definitely make you appear to be drunk or high.

Does your mom have Gerenal MG? I only have Ocular MG, but I get the general symptoms.

I've met Paula and she actually a really nice and sweet person. She has had numerous neck surgeries and has corresponding neurological issues. People who call her drunk or on drugs should be ashamed of themselves.

@SweetSerengeti: So you don't think she takes any medication? My impression is that she takes prescription pain medication which leads to slurring. Whether she is abusing them or the dosages are too high, I don't know. If I had chronic, constant pain I might do the same. I don't condemn her, but she should be honest about any kind of drug use when confronted. Otherwise it makes her look like she's hiding something.

@ribex: I don't know what she takes, I don't know that much about her. But I do know taking an interview and editing it to make her look bad and then making fun of a person and saying they are on drugs or drunk is just wrong. I'm sick of the snark. People need to step it up and start living more honorably. My Mom broke her jaw when she was a teen and slurs slightly. She doesn't take any drugs or drink it's just the way she is. Always looking for the worst is a person to make your self feel better says more about you than the person you are making up lies about.

@SweetSerengeti: Don't know about any "lies." But when a public figure goes on a mulitple national TV shows and slurs her words and acts bizarrely, especially when responding to a bizarre and horrendous death and then hock her jewelry, then one should expect scrutiny. And nothing wrong with that.
