When I had an MRI once they let me choose the music they piped in, which I guess was supposed to make claustrophobes less skittish (?), and my options were seriously like, Garth Brooks or smooth jazz. They literally handed over a book of CDs and every single option was terrible.
So moral of the story, probably parents won't get to get this clever, and they'll get stuck with "Kenny G-reatest hits," or whatever the nurse happened to bring in that day.
@sequined: This happened to me too. It was Billy Joel or nothing. I fucking hate Billy Joel. That was the most painful 45 minutes of my life (not counting the pain in the ankle that was being scanned).
@sequined: the place i went to had a decent selection - I listened to Rocky Horror Picture Show while getting mine done, just for the sheer absurdity of it all.
@shorty63136: I've seen quite a few and the babies all had really varied reactions. I think it depends partially on the kid and partially on how skilled the person doing it is. One of my little cousins didn't even wake up
@shorty63136: I dunno, my mom said she was permanently traumatized when they took away my little bro (her first son) to circumcise him in the hospital and she could hear him screaming down the hall. colormeroutine's cousin was probably on the lucky end of the spectrum.
@wascally_wabbit: For the record, that cousin was circumcised by a moyle. My mother was a labor&delivery nurse and she said that in her experience, the ones done in hospitals were usually worse (and she's seen plenty of both), which I found surprising on one hand, but on the other not so much. She had both of my brothers circumcised but picked the doctors doing it herself, which most don't get to do

And how dare you use Sheryl Crow's lame remake when Rod Stewart's original would be much more appropriate:
