I respect this wonderful lady with such intensity. I find her to be such a breathe of fresh air. I have used her as an example for my own daughter and what she can accomplish if she wants it and sets her mind to it.

She is indeed an inspiration to young woman of any color that you can be intelligent, beautiful and outspoken.

Her daughters sound like great kids. A colleague of mine said over lunch today, "I wonder what it would be like to be their teacher? The pressure!" But somehow, I think it wouldn't really be that bad. They come across as sweet girls, smart, and I get the feeling that Mom and Dad don't let any misbehavior go without a consequence. I bet the hardest part of being their teacher is trying not to sound like a star-struck idiot at parent-teacher conferences!

(Would be for me, anyway.)

I seriously think her body was airbrushed. Look at those jagged edges over her right bicep. Because it's threatening enough that she's smart, wildly successful and educated; it would be even worse that she's not only black and tall but, oh my god! athletically built. And notice her arm across her hips and the different colored couch around her hips. Looks like they airbrushed that too. Mustn't show black woman hips! All those white People housewives would be downright offended to know a black first lady comes with a black woman's body. Oh well, it's some progress.

ROSES AND THORNS!! We did those every night on a spring break trip to post-Katrina Mississippi and I now use the words in every day conversation (i.e., going to work and realizing I forgot to brush my teeth is a thorn). When I thought I couldn't love this woman any more ...

I would buy the Obamas a Tivo if they would invite me over to watch TV with them. I would bring snacks and Michelle and I could sit around and gossip and she would let me try on her dresses and give me makeup and fashion advice and then we could make cookies with Sasha and Malia and they would ask me to stay over for dinner and I could listen to Barack discuss policy issues and then we would all eat cookies in front of the Tivo.

A girl can dream.

Oooh that reader who wrote in about them putting the Obamas in every issue is going to be so mad...(yes, sometimes I read the letters)

I find her so refreshing, honestly. My best friend sent me an email today asking how she go about getting adopted by them. I imagine there are a lot of people asking the same thing.

@Mkp-braaaains-NYC: I wanted to respond with "Well not everyone voted for him, but he is EVERYONE'S President sweetie!" I even wanted to remind her that we're in a recession and anything Obama-related sells, not to mention that he's insanely popular.

Many of the magazines that I read regularly have featured people I can't stand. But instead of wasting my time throwing a fit, I just passed by the story or removed it and recycled the pages.

Oh, Michelle Obama, you could take my mom's cue and ignore any ideas my sister and I have over dog names and decide your house your rules. Although in retrospect, Huero and Sancho are great names for dogs. Just don't tell Mom that!

@MarissaExplainsItAll: My pup came with her name (we adopted her from a shelter)--Bridget. We're Irish and insanely proud of it so it turned out to be the best fit for her anyway.

They dealt with naming dogs on Jon and Kate Plus 8 this week (first time I've watched it in ages, they lured me in with the puppies). She refused to let the kids name the dogs and I actually agreed with her. 8 kids? There was bound to be a massive fight and no one would end up agreeing. Better to just let the parents name them.
