    @Lucy_In_The_Sky_With_Diamonds: eh yes and no. This is one of those things that's a big item of contention in the burlesque community. Because while it is sometimes about removing one's clothes, burlesque is mostly about the performance...the allure of the tease...what is hidden is much more exciting than what is displayed.


    So sure, I guess if you call anyone who performs slightly sexually on stage a stripper, than yes. But otherwise, I think there's a lot more to burlesque than just removing clothes.


    As an example, one of my favorite performers is Julie Atlas Muz and she does this amazing balloon performance that you really should check out.
    I can't search it at work but it's on you tube.
