An Australian man who posted a disturbing video of a man swinging a baby wildly by the arm says he was arrested for downloading abusive material. In an effort to find the baby-swinger, London police traced the video's IP address back to Australia, where federal police raided a man's home, seized his computers, and charged him with accessing, downloading, and uploading child abuse material with the intent to distribute. The man warned other uploaders to "be very careful of what they post when it comes to children." There are no reports that police have tracked down the individual actually swinging the baby. [MSNBC]

In this horrifying YouTube video, a man "plays" with a baby for three minutes and flips the child head over heels. The video looks real, but it also seems like some of the moves would pull the baby's arms off. Could the video have been generated with the same technology that brought us Ally McBeal's dancing baby? Amelia Robbins is a 12-year-old girl who just got suspended from her school in Missouri because she dyed her hair pink. Amelia says that she colored her as a tribute to her father, who died of cancer, and that the decision was fully supported by her mother. Administrators at the school argue that the pink hair is a "distraction" but Amelia says that the school is always teaching students to "be different" and to not follow the crowd. New research shows that the presence of a father figure helps female yellow baboons reach full maturity faster and be fertile longer than other baboons. Researchers speculate that this is because father baboons help prevent the harassment of their offspring allowing them better access to food. Unlike in modern human society, reaching full sexual maturity early and reproducing often is considered healthy for baboons. [AP News]
