not trying to start an argument, but its hard to paint a mental picture without some description like this. I have used it only for convenience and never for offense. #bodyshapes

its just hard to see that just describing how something looks it hurtful. i mean, sure...point out cellulite, crows feet and other hurtful specifics, that i can understand. But giving a decription of general height, weight, color and build...i think if you found neutral descriptions offensive, you should work on changing them if you can. On the biggest loser, these people are still big but they appreciate every pound lost, they are working to make a difference. But thats only shame on the offended if they take offense to neutral and do nothing about it. People trying to make a difference can still be hurt by malicious words.
my bad on the inverted part. you're still funny, i just wasnt quick enough to catch it. #bodyshapes

I'm not sure these numbers mean anything. If you don't actually know how small 31" hips are, the fact that you want them doesn't necessarily mean anything.
The whole hourglass thing is kind of meaningless unless people are using a tape measure on actual people. Often girls who are pear shaped or top heavy are described as hourglass because it is used to mean attractive and curvy.

I am also wearing sexy patterned tights and high heels and managed to pull my uncontrolable hair into a purty cascade.
I got a couple good looks on the subway.
That's all I got. #bodyshapes

Skirts that if large enough to fit nicely around my hips, have a good 4 inch gap at the waist that just kind of hangs there and looks like crap if I tuck a shirt into it...
Grass is greener, I guess, or we're at extremes of some in-between average that clothes are made in? #bodyshapes

And all the empire waisted stuff.... to make matters worse, I have large-ish boobs to go with the rest of me being straight with no curves, so it all hangs like 5 inches away from my actual stomach, making me look pregnant. Not "fat" but actually pregnant. :( #bodyshapes

The language used above---"aspire" is funny...really, aspiring to a body shape is an exercise in futility. You can gain/lose weight but you are going to have the body type you were destined to have, just with larger or smaller measurements. Aspiration is useless. #bodyshapes

@lucy: You really want to go there and tell some of us that we look like we "avoided puberty"? Okay, then.
And I think rixatrix may have been on to something when she wondered what the effect of women being increasingly involved in athletics might have on our shapes. I'd love to be curvy and athletic, but when I am working out a lot, or playing sports, I get thin, flatter and strong, and I don't think it's a bad thing. No, you can't completely change your body type, but to say that exercising just makes whatever proportions you have larger or smaller isn't completely accurate. #bodyshapes

@archaeo_girl: Bustles. It was supposed to enhance the bustle. Men back then wanted a wench with hindquarters like a centaur. #bodyshapes

(Somehow I think the people who took this survey would not appreciate me pointing out that I'm most tubular when I'm heavier. They'd be picking bits of brain off the walls for weeks.) #bodyshapes

(Even less so in my case since I have curvy hips but not much of an ass to hold them up - belts are a necessity.) #bodyshapes

Did I read that here, or was that in one of Jenna's posts?
"high rise jeans can double as a second bra band"
Heh. Sounds like something that's required for dance class but that, as usual, I forgot to bring. #bodyshapes
