The brains are awesome. They are great motivation for me to learn how to knit with needles. (I loom knit now) I saw another website that had knitted dissected frogs, pinned to a table, with all the organs displayed. It was pretty sweet. There is just something so fun about recreating realistic looking body parts out of yarn. I apologize for any creepiness that statement might have caused.

I was inspired by the plushies at I Heart Guts (see above), and a few I started making uteri out of pink flannel and giving them to my feminist friends. My housemates for next year have requested that I make pillow-sized versions for our couch (which I may or may not do), and I think one of my friends also suggested that I make an anatomically correct one that has a removable uterine lining and everything.

@cv: I got my friend who works with food borne pathogens, giant E. Coli viruses for a Christmas present. She now has them on display at her office.

I'm taking ante-natal classes through the National Health Service here in Edinburgh and every midwife seems to have her own knitted (or felt) placenta/umbillical cord combo. Who knew they were art!?
