I worked in clubs and worked with people that would get off work at 6am and be on the way to an after hours spot for drinks and more partying.
When you've worked all weekend and have a fat pocket full of cash and are in Manhattan the lure of fun can be pretty strong, especially if you know people everywhere and it will end up being pretty much free.

Ricks? I worked there once, for a day...as a cocktail waitress.
It was SO dead. No one there, they want you and 8 other waitresses to stand around in a corset and skirt and do nothing for many many hours and it was about 57 degrees inside.
They also wanted me to pay the makeup artist for the strippers to cover my tattoos. I said I had no money so he did it for free. They ended up looking like black tattoos with foundation over them, it was ridiculous.
They gave me the corset, I took it and never went back.
I sold the corset on ebay.
That place sucks.

Come out more, get in free and come to my bar!!!
I ♥ strippers.

As veronykah mentions, strippers leave work with lots of cash, and can be great tippers, themselves...
There's industry courtesy, too - a lot of bartenders / servers / bouncers sometimes get comped if the servers at other bars/clubs know them. It's pretty common a lot of places (maybe not in NYC?).

Most of my friends were in the industry too making drinks pretty much anywhere free and cover charges something to laugh at.
I miss NYC.
Although from experience in LA, its like that here too. I just don't know as many bartenders here.

No, I usually go right home. I'm not big on going out after work. Sometime I go to Niagara or Ace Bar. It's an amazing place. You've got the Skee-Ball. You've got all kind of games. It's a real laid-back, chill kind of place, you know?
Do you ever stay in?
Hardly anymore, no.
Um. yeah.

Where I worked, in the regular lapdance area it was hands by your sides at all time! Touchy = punchy.

The LAST thing I wanted to do on my nights off was more fucking dancing! The other girls I worked with were the same. If we weren't getting paid, there would be no uncomfortable shoe/clothes wearing.
Needless to say, I was never comped at Traders. Bummer.

One of my guy friends was like, "I'm gonna ask this stripper out. She's always flirting with me at the club!"... he did not take my advice and she SHOT HIM DOWN. Viciously. I kindof liked her for it, too.

Also, I have never wondered where strippers go and I don't think I ever would have.

If you find yourself paying for shit.. flirt with a promoter and you will find yourself at a table with all of your girlfriends with a big ass bottle of bubbly. You are essentially a prop but sometimes it is nice.
