Half were in evening. Half were in costume. Chris Pine's shoes looked weird. And Kerry Washington, of course, was flawless.

Love Rose McGowan doing gently vintage and...sweet. She does it so well! (Oh, wait, is half of it see-through. Scratch that. And please don't seat me across from her.)

Don't you wonder if Rose had a talk with Evan Rachael Wood, and was like, yeah, I had my mid-90's bombshell phase, too. But why not enjoy being young, honey? You have your whole life to do "hard and lacquered!" Or am I projecting?

First thoughts on Eva Longoria-Parker's dress: it looks like it should really be more fitted, and also like she won a bunch of ribbons in the Hades County Fair.

Whoa, Carla Gugino is really committing to this 60's cocktail thing! Don't get me wrong: she works it, and I dig consistency...maybe I'd feel better if there weren't the unfortunate Mad Men confluence? But that's hardly Carla's fault. But isn't it kinda...evening?

How do you think Emmy Rossum feels about Phantom? Can I admit that I find her outfit not that engaging, even if she looks amazing in it? And can I also admit that lately I've been having a lot of philosophical qualms about attributing meaning and iconography to what's really just a net of fibers? Interesting anthropologically, yes, but existentially? Pfft.

Jeepers crow I love Kerry Washington. And this is the only reference to "iconic Marilyn" I've ever been able to stomach!

Is Jordana Brewster's tank trimmed with...patent? Or just beading? Either way, my grandma (RIP) would have appreciated the matching going on. Like, a lot.

Kirk Pine: your shoes don't match your suit. I thought I should tell you because no one else was going to. I know you were going for "barrier-breaking po-mo" but it's not clear; the suspicion can't help but intrude that you don't know what you're doing. As a friend.

<![CDATA[Awesome Clothes At Mysterious Movie Screening]]> I don't know much about Phoebe in Wonderland, which screened yesterday at Beverly Hills' Writers Guild Theater, but Jodie Foster, Felicity Huffman and various frighteningly poised children looked absolutely lovely.

The Good:
Loving Felicity Huffman's breezy, sunny (it can be both, right?) frock.

Why are these Fanning children - this is Elle - so ridiculously well-dressed?

Jodie Foster's all, yeah, I didn't even try...and look cool.

I am frightened of anyone this confident at...any age, but Mackenzie Milone certainly is working her cream shift!

The Bad:
Open neck is one thing. Off-the-shoulder is one thing. Looks-like-you-cut-it-yourself-too-big is quite another.

What Say You?
Dana Delaney: pretty or prissy?

<![CDATA[Hopeless Clothes At 'El Sueno De Esperanza' Party]]> Padres Contra El Cancer's 8th Annual 'El Sueno De Esperanza' at the Hollywood & Highland Center Grand Ballroom brought out a lot of big names — Eva Longoria-Parker, Daisy Fuentes, George Lopez, to say nothing of Tara Reid — and a lot of really bad clothes. This was obviously for a good cause, but I must say, had I been there, I would have found the clothes a serious distraction from the philanthropy. There were definitely some highlights — both Eva and Daisy looked pretty great — but the "bads" were the real story last night. Tight, short, shiny, lacy and low — you get it all, kids! The Good, the Bad, the Ugly, after the jump.

The Good:
I'm normally pretty tough on Eva L-P, but I think she's looking smokin' lately.

Jennifer Morrison's is not the best iteration we've ever seen, but this retro look (we're refusing to buy into the lame "blirt" a few souls are attempting) is still a better trend than many.

Daisy Fuentes is one of the few who could pull off this much dress and pattern.

I love how confident Constance Marie looks in her LBD.

The Bad:
Cristina Perez obviously doesn't listen to Nina Garcia.

Candace Fisher's cleavage is mesmerizing... but not in a good way.

Tara Reid has worn far worse, and is looking pretty wholesome, but unfortunatel,y large portions of this are see-through.

Maria Conchita Alonso obviously feels good in her outfit, which theoretically, is half the battle...

The Ugly:
It's always fascinating when garments like Ana de la Reguera's manage to be both revealing and frumpy.

<![CDATA[The Alma Awards: Very Good, Pretty Bad, Really Ugly]]> Happy Monday, friends, and welcome to last night's Alma Awards, the "Latino Entertainment Honors," at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. What a red carpet! A time warpy Paula Abdul (left), a freakishly fit Jessica Alba, a helmet-haired Eva Longoria-Parker and hundreds more brought us one of the widest good-bad spectrums we've seen in a long time, with "Grecian Sacrifice" and "Poured-on Satin" warring for evening's top trend. The, Good, the Bad, the Ugly, post-jump!

The Good:
Um, didn't Jessica Alba have a baby about two seconds ago? Hollywood is messed up. But this gown is indeed lovely.
Actress Anjelah N. Johnson's turquoise sheath is Grecian done right.
America Ferrera's black and white is fun and flirty and a nice break from all the Mount Olympus stuff on the red carpet.
And...Selena Gomez takes us BACK to ancient Greece. It's also not lost on us that Disney's latest It Girl is in virginal white. But she does look lovely.
Dania Ramirez's posturing is a bit distracting, but you can still tell that she looks like a classic bombshell.
Actress Roselynn Sanchez looks fresh and cute in a puffball.

The Bad:

Q'orianka Kilcher's "Frida Goes to Studio 54" ensemble is confusing, ill-judged.
Eva Longoria-Parker's dress is bad on its own terms, but the helmet hair is the final nail in the coffin.
Singer Lucero's dramatic gown would be awesome if this were the Ziegfeld Follies circa 1918.
Note to world: This D&G dress is ugly. Please stop wearing it. Yes, Maria Canals-Barrera, we're looking at you.
Carly Enriquez goes for waay too much pouf and ruffle on a small frame.
Actress Natalie Pena is sporting one of the ugliest prints ever seen.
And if painted-on satin is your poison, here's Scarlet Ortiz
...and Myra
...and Cheryl Burke!

The Ugly:
Actress Christina deRosa pretty much stomped away with this category.
