    There was a crazy Thierry Mugler spread in the first Vogue I ever saw years ago-- it was in the desert and full of crazy metal leotards, molded plastic wigs, etc. And when I fist saw Beyonce's glove thing in the Single Ladies video, that's what I thought of.


    What I mean is that I am uber-excited for crazypants Mugler and crazypants Sasha Fierce to collaborate.

    @annab: I LOVE going to little five points in atlanta to the vintage shops there, but unless you are a modern day 4 you can't find anything that fits. It's so disappointing :(

    So, I may or may not have had a dream about stalking Beyonce last night. I know she was in it, and I was in it, but I'm not sure what actually happened, other than we did not have sex, as one of my friends asked me this morning.

    Michelle Obama is fashion's new favorite doll!


    I totally had a whole book of First Lady paper dolls with historically accurate dresses that I got in D.C. back in 1990 (I was 9). Dolley Madison was my favorite, but even Dolley was not as cool as Michelle Obama. Also, my Frances Folsom Cleveland paper doll had a weirdly shaped bosom.

    @SisterMaryMartha: There was a little tidbit in Newsweek about this comparison and how off it is. Jackie's style was completely unattainable back then, everything was super expensive and custom made. She wore furs and hats and lots of jewelry. Michelle wears clothes from J. Crew & H&M, I must be missing the similarities?! Clearly they are the most 'fashionable' of the First Lady's but I think it ends there.

    Thank you. Isn't anyone allowed to be themselves anymore? She's not the new Jackie O. No other color is the new black. Michelle Obama is Michelle Obama, pink is its own color, etc. The English language is full of possibilities when it comes to allowing us to describe people and things.

    you know, I find that odd- maybe I am hallucinating, but I thought Nancy had an image that was considered stylish- I guess I thought the fashion world embraced her at the time? NO?
    Hell, I was a kid. What do I know. All I cared about was that Ronnie was a movie star as seen in Bedtime for Bonzo and other stellar pieces- oh and that before that cold Nancy, he was married to an even colder woman that I loved- Jane Wyman.

    @SisterMaryMartha: They definitely did embrace her at the time (all those custom-made red gowns!) but I don't think she compares to Jackie O in terms of being considered a long-term icon to younger generations. At least that's my take on it and I could also be hallucinating.
