My boyfriend doesn't like sports. I am always telling him to eat because he barely does. I am always the one pushing for sex, and he is always the one trying almost too hard to be respectful. We talk about complex things and he hears everything I say. He doesn't hang out with "the guys" and I do not have a "tribe" of girls that I get facials with.
We are humans. Our biological functions are aspects of our selves but they do not define us.
This is so stupid. It's ridiculous. Brain has died. #katehudsonelleuk
I wish we could retire all the most superficial "boys are like this!" "girls are like this!" stuff.
I especially dislike the constant "oh men, they're just stupid and like sex and food." As if that's actually true of every single man, somehow clever as an observation...or part of that weird "well, they can't help it" trope that is actually a real problem.
Every time I hear gender generalizations like this I think, maybe it's the types of people you hang out with. I don't know anyone, male or female, who fits into such narrow gender ideas. #katehudsonelleuk
The Mr. is really pretty complicated, and he'll have conversations about gender issues pretty frequently (last night he read the Spike Halloween party mess). But truth be told? If he got sex and a sandwich, he wouldn't have a care in the world for a considerable amount of time. Then again, the same might go for me... #katehudsonelleuk
She's an actress. An ACTRESS. She is not a journalist, a social commentator, a teacher, a doctor, a philosopher, a pirate, a poet, a painter. Her job is to look skinny and pretty onscreen, and memorize someone else's words, and make lots of money doing so. End of story. There's no need to rip her to shreds. #katehudsonelleuk
@epiclady: And we're commenters. COMMENTERS. And some of us are doctors, and lawyers, and poets, and painters and um, pirates (maybe). Our job is to read the post, and make comments about contents of said post. No need to rip us to shreds. #katehudsonelleuk
@heykoukla: seriously. why are people so shocked that people are reacting to this post in the comments? I haven't read all of them but unless people are saying they wish her dead or something, what's the big deal? #katehudsonelleuk
@heykoukla: I guess if Kate Hudson's vocabulary and opinions are occupying the time of doctors and lawyers and pirates, this world is in a bigger state of peril than I thought. #katehudsonelleuk
@bluebears: I feel like there's a lot of that whole LEAVE KATE ALONE sentiment going on here. If you're going to do an interview in a mainstream publication, don't expect to be exempt from social commentary. #katehudsonelleuk
Eh, it's so easy to rip people apart. Actors don't need to flex their mind muscle all the time, which is why I rarely read fashion magazine interviews. The woman did not crap out this whole thing on her own, I can only imagine the interviewer's questions...
In any case, I thought her heavy hand with the generalizations was kind of funny. I talk like the sometimes, and it's not always entirely serious. And, like it or not, stereotypes exist for a reason.
Not defending, I don't even especially care about Hudson. I just think taking an Elle interview with any kind of seriousness is silly.
The most offensive thing about this interview was the fact that she quoted Dr. Fucking Laura. #katehudsonelleuk
There seems to be a lot of vapid there, but I don't share the same sentiment about the use of "boys" and "girls" - I prefer it. I strongly prefer "boys" to "men" (though not Boyz II Men) when discussing dating and romance.
And, in the context of dating and romance, her stereotypes are, like all stereotypes, coming from a bit of truth. It may also explain why her relationships post-marriage have been brief, if the above is her entire worldview on the subject. #katehudsonelleuk
@J.D.Regent: Here's how I see it: "Men" are not fun or people with whom I would plan fun. I work with men. A man comes (usually) when I need furniture moved or my plumbing fixed.
Boys are the males of all ages with whom you want to have fun, not someone who does the work or is friends with your dad. Boys clubs, for all the negative connotation with respect to women's advancement in the workplace, usually sound like fun -- boys clubs play golf, they drink, they eat steak. Boys have fun. Men do not. #katehudsonelleuk
@tinydundie42: I presume you're referring to that bloat-faced baseball player, and not the 2009 Wimbledon finalist gladiator to whom that nickname rightly belongs. #katehudsonelleuk
@screamkat: I'm sorry, but sometimes I just wish for a celebrity who is beautiful and capable of exercising critical thinking skills. These are people that the vast majority look up to and aspire to be like. #katehudsonelleuk
@screamkat: Not really true here, though. Plenty of articles have discussed positive things celebrities have done, like the post last week about Nicole Kidman. It's only when people say something off that it gets criticized.
Celebrities, like it or not, have a public forum in interviews like this. What they say reflects on them. It has consequences. Just like our comments here do.
And yes, sometimes you get "haters" when something doesn't warrant it. But in this case, she's made a lot generalizations and I think that's relevant to this site. I mean, part of Jez is celebrity. I don't understand anyone being shocked when this sort of stuff comes up. #katehudsonelleuk
@Shiera Hall: I actually clicked on this THINKING it was Kate Winslet. And then it took me a while to realize, even after looking at her picture. I even read the headline "New Man" and I was like WHAT??? #katehudsonelleuk
She never fails to reinforce just why I don't like her. What's "juvenile and base" is her superficial views of both sexes, especially her own. What's so powerful about a group of women getting facials?
Also, I used to work for my local film society, and a couple years ago, we had an awards event. She came with Owen Wilson and was an ice queen to the entire staff and made Owen leave early. #katehudsonelleuk

It almost seems like because they are beautiful, thin, rich, famous, etc....we just have to find a fault somewhere.
Is Kate really THAT annoying because she used the word "boys" to describe men? Or is the person who got annoyed just THAT pretentious?
I'm just saying.... #katehudsonelleuk
