Ugh, okay, the cutting thing. As a person who has struggled, crazy-like, with S-I for nearly 15 years, I can say that her prolonged issue with it is no joke. It's simply a symptom of an (obviously) larger problem.

@BetteD: What I'm guessing is that the kids were playing a kidnapping/ mystery/imagination game, and the daughter was the 'beautiful victim" , probably tied to a chair with a skipping rope or something, and wearing dress-up clothes.
The picture was probably part of the game, and the nanny is trying to use it as evidence of something twisted, which it is not. #cindycrawford

@carley: "revealing clothing" could be a spaghetti tank and shorts. I wouldn't worry about it. The kids were probably playing (princess trapped by evil stepmother, cops and robbers, the list goes on and on), a photograph was taken, and now the nanny is using it against them. #cindycrawford

I'm not usually particularly affected by Lindsay Lohan's seemingly-endless trials and tribulations, but this shit with her father and the taped phone calls makes me want to burst into tears. What a little shit he is.

I wish to fuck that she could get away from her toxic parents and managers and agents and enablers and get a lungful of fresh air somewhere. I'll be very happy when the rest of the world realizes that "gypsy" is the pejorative term for the Roma. Please call them what they prefer to be called. They've suffered enough indignities. (Full disclosure: my great-great-grandmother was Roma, but I think it would still bug me that in the 21st century we're still calling them gypsies, even if I wasn't part Roma myself.) #romanpolanski

regarding the yahoo article about ethan hawke and madonna: isn't the term "gypsy" condered to be offensive? i know at least here in germany (where i'm an expat american) the german equivalent of gypsy (zigeuner) is considered to be very un PC and instead the terms "roma and sinti" are used.

anyway, after looking at the website [www.voiceofroma.com] , particularly this page ([www.voiceofroma.com])

i'm sort of cringing at the AP's usage of the term gypsy #romanpolanski

@cbroo: From the other side of the argument--I'm Romanian, born-and-bred--I should tell you that calling gypsies "Roma people" causes any & all Romanians to blow a major fuse.

The Western media has perpetuated this myth that gypsies as an ethnic minority = "Romanians," which is not only incorrect, but linguistically absurd.

Etymologically, "Romanian" traces its roots to the adjective "Roman" (Roman empire, etc.) but the description of gypsies as "Roma people" has Southeast-Asian roots.

"Gypsy," in my view, is much more illustrative. I don't get why it's un-PC. Gypsies do not occupy a nation-state, tethered to a precise land mass; they're a pan-European ethnic group. There are German gypsies, Hungarian gypsies, Romanian gypsies, etc. #romanpolanski
