The do not call list. Stops all but companies you "have a relationship with" and charities. So the LA Times was still calling several times a minute to ask me to upgrade my service, but no one was asking me to change my long distance because the only company allowed to call me was the one already giving me long distance.

Anonymous Call Blocking. It costs a couple bucks through your phone company, but it is wonderful. Stops the LA Times, and anyone who's calling at 8am on a weekend when I've been working until 3am all week.

I still get calls from some non-profits, but when I tell them I'll show up to a blood drive but I just don't have $10, they usually shut up. Once you've offered your blood, there's nothing else they can ask from you.
