Moe Tkacik: In fact, it is the Western parliamentary democratic system that has demonstrated the most vitality. This system is currently the best one available. It is able to manifest the spirit of democracy and meet the demands of a modern society.... Why is there not even one developed nation practicing any other system?
Megan: It's interesting that he identifies Parliamentary democracy over our three-branch system.
I've not done studies on it, but the Parliamentary system is more widespread than the US's three-branch system isn't it? The US political system is far from the 'end of history,' still a lot more places to go.
What is interesting, is that he's implying that the US isn't a developed nation.
Well, it's late and nobody's going to see this, but I just have to say that Crappy Hour was/is my all-time favorite Jez feature, and to see both it and Moe back, even if it's just a one-off, really makes me happy. Where else can we get hangover complaints, Urdu poetry and updates from the President of Palau?
I'd like to know just who the fuck Sanford thinks he is, to be able to go incommunicado for days on end? There better be a good excuse for that (preferably something salacious and interesting). I can't do that and I don't have an entire state that counts on me. The Lieutenant Gov didn't know where HE WAS? Who doesn't tell their s-i-c wtf they are doing?!
Going back to grumble privately some more. That pisses me off on general principle.
PS: Applauding the return of Crap to Jez, especially when it involves Moe.
Jon Voight says a lot of things that creep me out but this is not one of them. If my dad called me sexy, well... that would clearly be a matter of opinion and seriously skeeve me out. (*bleaches thought from brain*) But Angelina... she's the SEXIEST WOMAN ALIVE! I think it's safe to say most people would at least agree with "kind of sexy." That's just calling a spade a spade.
Wasn't the green tech revolution supposed to both re-industrialize the US and make us less dependent on traditional manufacturing jobs? I truly don't understand why we are not turning every prison in America into vocational schools for green technology -- we could turn the prisons carbon neutral and train inmates for their return to society (oh, you mean they are all serving life without parole and will die expensive and lonely deaths inside? ok).
@PilgrimSoul: Word, word and more word. It makes all the bullshit/disparaging news much easier to ingest with Megan and Moe (or any guest star you guys drag out)!
also, maybe sanford ran away from south carolina because he's getting his ass sued by students in the defunded, crippled public education system and he is rightfully embarassed with himself. but i guess that would take some semblance of self-awareness, and i don't think he really has much of that.
@southernbitch: Didn't SC's Supreme Court side with the legislature and tell Sanford to accept the damn money? That must really suck, when the two other branches of government think you're an asshole.
@wtfox?!: yeah. we're sort of in the same boat here in louisiana, with bobby jindal just being a complete ass when it comes to the budget. he gutted the fuck out of all social serives and higher ed, but is now trying to "restore" some of the cuts to "save" certain programs that were on the chopping block- of course, these were cuts that HE proposed and lobbied for in the first place, and now he's trying to play this awful "look, everyone! i'm rescuing all the programmatic cuts" card that is complete horseshit. him and sanford both need to get kicked in the face.
it seems like republican governor who wants to be president = incredibly shitty at actually being an executive right now. do they think not doing their jobs is the way to get a better one? assholes.
I felt so sorry for whomever they interviewed on CNN this morning re: Sanford going for a walkabout. The poor guy just looked so uncomfortable as he sat their trying to explain his governor. You knew looking at him that he was just as confused and perplexed about the whole thing as the rest of us.
Gov. Sanford, this is not a Ayn Rand novel. This real life and you are an executive of a state's government. Running off to sulk because you didn't get your way is not acceptable. Grow up.
@Sputnik_Sweetheart: But it's still okay for me to do that, right? Because sometimes I just need to sulk and cross my arms and make little kicking motions towards anyone who comes near me.
Oh, wait. That's my five-year-old niece I'm thinking of.

Why is it again that people are on Twitter? To hear celebrities gossip about one another like a bunch of middle-schoolers?
I really don't get it. I must be getting old.
