Dr. Warren Hern: "It Is Terrifying And It's Infuriating. There's No Excuse For This." |

There are people in America who believe that guns should be illegal, but they don't go around picketing gun shops with signs that say "child killer", accusing the store owners and employees of being "murderers", screaming abuse, and harassing anyone who tries to enter the store. That sort of thing wouldn't be even remotely acceptable, and yet for some reason it's been allowed to go on at abortion clinics for years.
If you think the law should be changed, then WORK TO GET THE LAW CHANGED! How anyone is able to feel any inkling of sympathy or respect for a movement that uses these kinds of tactics, I will never understand. It makes me sick.

That's actually probably why I find it so frustrating and infuriating to see the issue fought about in this manner.

I don't think having a vote would shut these people up because they're religious zealots.

I suppose they mean the doctors, but that means they're either a) Leaving women out of the equation completely or b) Don't believe these women are innocent (reminding me of the old 'How much jail time do women who have abortions deserve?' question).
Either is completely plausible and in line with most pro-life rhetoric.

Isn't that what all terrorists think? Including the "proper" A-rab Islams?

Abortion is legal in the US. Yes, it is. YES, IT IS. It's legal, and no one has the right to impede me from obtaining one if I choose.
Let's make a deal, far-right nutters.
For eight years, during your precious Bush administration, I was taunted and called a liberal commie whatever. I was exhorted to "move to Canada" if I didn't like it. So, you have an option.
Don't like abortion? Move somewhere where it's illegal! Like Chile, or Nicaragua, or Malta. Oh, what's that? You don't want to move because you don't like the politics here? Well, tough noogies, bitches. This shit is legal and it is staying that way.

it's not like some states were allowed to keep slavery. it ended in all the states. cuz it's one country, where all people have rights

But they minute they get in someone's face, the minute they threaten harm, the minute they try to hamper or hinder someone's progress into a clinic that provides legal, necessary services? That is when they should be stopped, swiftly and resoundingly.
Everyone has a right to an opinion and a voice. Nobody has the right to stop another human being from obtaining a legal service. These doctors shouldn't have to live in constant terror. These doctors shouldn't have to fear for their lives just because they trust women to make their own reproductive decisions. And like you, I want to see these criminals--like Roeder--being described like the terrorists they are.
I am intensely grateful that the feds are protecting these doctors, but I'm saddened and horrified that they need this kind of protection.
I can't stop crying. This is awful.

I'm also curious why anti-stalking statutes aren't used more often against these people, but then again, I'm just generally curious as to why anti-stalking statutes aren't enforced more thoroughly anyway.

I have had enough of this (not the media coverage, the terrorism) and I feel like because of their violence and behavior the right to free speech should be suspended in these cases and protesters arrested and punished. There is a giant chasm between speaking your opinion and harassing women; between saying your view and shooting doctors and nurses. I love the constitution and I love America and the rights I am awarded as an American citizen, but these people have proven time and time again that they are terrorists.
If you want to stand in front of a building with a sign saying "No Abortion!" Fucking fine. But if that sign has an inflammatory image on it, in my opinion you are guilty of public indecency. If you throw rocks and insults at people, in my opinion you are guilty of assault and harassment. If you shoot somebody you are guilty of murder.
Differing opinions are what makes this country great and I judge somebody based on their actions, not their opinions. I just hope the United States Justice system starts judging these people like the criminals like they are.

can we start some kind of jezebel movement or website or fund or protest group or letter-writing party or something? i'm going crazy trying to find an outlet for this frustration and anger.

I think there needs to be serious pressure on the administration to declare these organizations terrorist groups. It has to become politically unpalatable not to as opposed to the current situation where there is strong resistance to calling them that because it will offend so-called moderates & that is politically unpalatable. It has to become more damaging politically to not deem these terrorists terrorists than to keep on pretending that it's not.

It's amazing how incredibly simple this is when the inflammatory language is removed.
