Peterson was so reviled within his own department that the chances of any cop risking their own job or pension to cover his ass for murder are slim to none..
Coroners and other people can do shabby work on their own.
Why isn't there a criminal investigation into the coverup related to the first autopsy. The RICO act, (racketeering, conspiring to commit a crime) sure seems like it might apply here.
There had to be LOTS of cooperation between mutliple people to cover this up. I believe the crime scene was also contaminaited, meaning that evidence obtained would be either inadmissable or easily challenged.
Given the whole he was a cop/autopsy performed in his precinct/etc., has anyone heard if the coroner and/or police officers who investigated her death are being looked into now?
So either the autopsy was done by a blind person, or his cop friends were trying to protect one of their own. Gasp! Newsflash guys, you want the killers in jail, remember?
Hmm... I'm not really quick to judge, I don't always assume the husband is guilty, I try to see both sides, I'm a pious believer in "the innocent until proven guilty" motto, but, what the fuck, let's say that this guy extinguished any benefit of the doubt supply the world might ever have is an understatement.
If I've learned anything from L&O and all it's spin offs (esp SVU) it's that a dead body doesn't bruise post-mortem.
Also, it never ceases to amaze me that individuals who exhibit sociopathic tendencies are often so charismatic. I'm automatically thinking of Peterson being Manson-esque. Violent, crazy men who nevertheless get women to follow/love/worship them.
Didn't similar circumstances occur with two of his previous wives? Terrifying that a man can murder two wives and be free to kill the third, yet a developmentally disabled man is in jail for 100 years for committing an act of molestation he doesn't even understand.
Ohhh, world. You really know how to make a cynic out of me.
Now WHY were these bruises and scrapes missed the first time around (or not believed to be caused by a struggle)? Wasn't Peterson still on the police force at that time? Shady.
@Gretchen (Newly sprung from the medical slammer!): Which is most likely what happened. Would they be considered inadvertent accomplices then? Because it can't be legal to NOT perform a full autopsy bc of what the cop claims happened.
@picassobear: As some have pointed out, the autopsy was done in the precinct where he was still employed as a police officer. That could have something to do with the initial conclusion. So encouraging, huh?
@picassobear: It is very hard to remain positive when you know what that kind of power does to a person, and then see the abuses of that power in action.
I know there are many good police officers out there, but the job definitely draws people with a certain personality type that end up being maniacal assholes, and that's who we end up reading about/seeing/meeting pretty often.

His pattern seems to be to go after very young impressionable women that he can influence, and isolates them from their families.
