Wouldn't it have been easier to just yell down the hill at Uma or, if close enough, push her out of the way? At any rate, I doubt the van was "hurtling" if he could jump inside and take control. It was probably gently rolling.
@rednrowdy: I doubt almost anyone here cares. But obviously scads of "real Americans" care very much about whether someone is gay or not. I buy speculation that is why Lambert didn't win. I completely buy that is why so many gay politicians are closeted. We have a long way to go to reach equality, and I applaud public figures who are vocally open as a way of working toward that day. Just another reason I love Wanda Sykes.
um, why is mayim bialik on 'what not to wear'?! that show is for us plebians, the five-figure earners (if we're lucky), not former celebrities who certainly have scads of cash who are too cheap to buy clothes.
@rednrowdy: Well, she hasn't really been acting since Blossom, has she? I believe she went on to get a PhD in Neuroscience or something of the like and is a full-time mom & scientist, which is not all that lucrative of a field...
PLEASE don't let that be true regarding Jen and John. If she were my friend, this is when we call together a girls night to sit her down and end this shit, over bottles of wine and tapas.
@ElleL: Back-and-forth relationships are usually very bad news. In fact, I can't think of one perpetually reuniting couple that has made it work eventually.
Rockabye Baby! does amazing covers of pop songs. Like beautiful instrumental versions of Bjork, Radiohead, and all the previously mentioned musicians. Check them out on i-tunes. Really, I bought some for myself. (My kids just listen to whatever my husband and I like. No annoying "kid music" in our house - though are a handful of awesome kid music.)
I think Conan attracts a younger crowd compared to Leno so it'll be interesting to see how the ratings fall out. TV sucks so bad this time of year that if Leno was on at 10 now, I believe he'd sweep up.
Anyone see Prince on Leno last night? Friggin' awesome.
@ritualtheory: now available on vinyl: @emilyanne: Noooooooo! Well, I'm a bit taken aback by his comment, seeing as Fry is his most famous friend on Twitter and he cannot possibly refer to anything that man does as inane or pointless. But, I cannot stay mad at Laurie for long, and seeing as the two of them are still very good friends, I will assume he did not mean to attack Fry with his comments...
I understand Carla Bruni's frustrations. I am 2 inches taller than my boyfriend and I never wear anything but flats either. That's why I love her so much, you wouldn't believe the people comments make when you are taller than your boyfriend.
@lilbobbytables: Tall girls unite! I'm still so tired. I have new neighbors and they like to make a lot of noise, so I don't think I'm making much sense at all right now!
@pinkyBella: I'm shorter than my boyfriend by about an inch or two, but I love my heels... so in public, I'm quite often taller.
But! I've discovered that there are lots of guys shoes with small heels! Especially dress shoes and cowboy boots! And that helps some, when I want to wear heels.

Steve Martin can really throw down on that Banjo! When he was on Colbert it was quite astounding.
Wow, I think I have to admit I have a total ol' crush on Steve Martin. I even liked Shopgirl quite a bit!

As I said above, I can't stay mad at him for long, especially after watching the old clips. To show all is forgiven, here's a tribute to him:

Come on Carla, you wanna help the guy, call him a cucumber or aubergine or courgette or something phallic and tall. He's a man with a hell of an ego!
