I'm confused and impressed. French motherhood looks, um weird and cool and difficult and dangerous and all other things French.

American Vogue will never be French Vogue, nor should it be. And as much as I love Carine Roitfeld, her magazine has a much, much smaller circulation. American Vogue is a behemoth. And that's to Wintour's credit! Carine influences fashion insiders and lovers. Wintour moves units. And as much as I don't mind smoking in French Vogue I'm perfectly fine not seeing it in American Vogue.
I'm just so tired of these two incredibly talented, incredibly different women being pitted against one another.

It is a good point, though, that French Vogue's much smaller circulation allows them to take more liberties. However, I don't need to read about Plum Sykes's search for the perfect haircolor/long-sleeve couture dress/beach towel every freaking month. If they eliminated that kind of pandering to Upper East Side Women's Serious Bznss issues and concentrated on fashion, US Vogue would be a hell of a lot better.

Please help me to break out of my boring old pedestrian methods of motherhood. I want to be edgy (fuck you, baby, up you go, into the air! ha ha ha ! that was fun!), and severe (you want food, baby? i want chanel! fuck you! ha ha ha!), and most of all, I want to look like I've just come off a six-week bender. Le sigh, French Vogue. You can find me lounging languidly blowing sultry smoke rings in my baby's face. So cool.
