    The best deal of my life: I found a pair of patent Docs at a thrift shop. They had no price tag. So I asked the woman "How much for the boots?" "A dollar."

    I kinda love her. I'm not ashamed to admit to being a big fan of her show Unfabulous even though I'm a bit old for it.


    On a side note, every time I see someone else drag out their Doc Martens, I'm reminded of my floral ones stuffed in the back of the closet. Must dig them out.

    @beatrice2000: Doesn't every 17 year old "try to hard" when they get dressed in the morning? I know I definitely did. It's not exactly the easiest age to be comfortable with yourself.

    @Isi: Mine seriously last A MONTH. I was embarrassed to go barefoot because I looked like I had a special kind of feet-only leprosy.

    @Isi: I never got the blisters, but I did get funky scars on the backs of my ankles where the boots had rubbed my skin raw.


    I heart my Docs. My first pair were black 8 holes. Then I bought some black 14 holes, followed by cherry red 10 holes and a finally a few months ago patent white 14 holes. With zips. Which means no more trying to cut the laces off because I'm too tired/lazy to take the laces out.


    People complement me on them too. Postal worker said it was nice to see a woman wearing something other than Uggs, and two women on the train platform said they were cool, which made me happy because that was the first time I was ever called cool. I was 24.


    And they make me feel like I can take on the world, so I call them my super hero boots.

    @Maybe I'll Catch Fire: I have those scars. I bought my first pair in London and had the brilliant plan to break them in there. Hahaha. Yeah.


    Those were dark blue. My current pair are pewter 10 holes that never fail to earn a chorus of "oooooo" when I go to the hairstylist. (But nowhere else, weirdly)
