I've actually been eating SpongeBob edamame lately (mostly because it was the only kind not sold out at my grocery store)-- if it helps kids want to eat more healthily, I'll live with the embarrassment of having my shopping cart look like a toy store.

@mysterygirl: I currently have SpongeBob labeled baby carrots in my fridge... I don't really see anything wrong with marketing fruits and veggies this way. I think it will probably only work on the youngest kids, but it seems like a step in the responsible direction.

I really wan't to know how they're going to get Zac Efrons face on an avocado without messing up the insides. Avocados are touchy fruits. They bruise and turn mushy by just looking at them. I wonder how long it will take Disney to figure out that kids probably won't want to eat an uglass Avocado with Zac Efrons face on it.

The question is, what kind of avocado will this be? Will they be the nicer, organic avocados with the firm green flesh? Will they be those gross ones with the light green skin and the watery insides? Will they just pick up whichever mushy brand is currently the cheapest?

I care about my avocados, guys.

If they manage to make the avocados actually look like Zac Efron, then I applaud them from the bottom of my Weekly World News loving heart. But a sticker with him on it is, frankly, a copout, and I expect more from you, Disney.

Produce branding really bugs me--fresh food is already expensive enough without having to pay a cut to Disney on top of that. I wish they would instead conscript its stars in doing a series of kid-friendly how-tos on how to make healthy snacks and meals, because kids are making more meals at home (I have the actual stat, though not immediately handy) and I'm sorry, but putting a picture of Zac Efron on an avocado will not do anything in helping a kid or teen safely cut one open to make their own guacamole.

@bloodflower: That's cool--I don't watch much Disney Channel these days (too many good sitcom reruns on ABC Family that keep me plenty busy) so I wouldn't know if they had something like that or not.

@boxspelunker: Really? I don't think you're supposed to eat the skin. I was taught to place it on the table longways and cut it on either side of the pit thing, until all you have left is the pit with some fruit on it and four slices of mango with skin on. Then you dice the mango out of the skin (don't cut down all the way, then slide the knife along the skin so at the end you have diced mango and four bits of skin). It's hard to explain without pictures.... and that's just how I do it. Other people probably do it differently.
