Oh my god! Who would do that to Paula?!? What the fuck is wrong with people?! I mean, a ham to Perez Hilton's face is one thing (and has probably happened before), but Paula? She seems like such a great, jolly woman.
@Tchotchke: Actually, I saw it on the news, and it seemed like the event was throwing hams at people and she just got in the way. I don't know why they weren't giving away turkeys, but they're pretty hard to throw.
@itsonreserve: Oh, good, I'm glad that it wasn't intentional. Paula seems to cheery and fun, that the idea that someone would want to spoil that saddens me immensely.
I am really irritated by some of the things I've heard about Adam Lambert's performance-- a lot of "I really liked him on American Idol, but this was.... so over the top." I kinda wish they would just come out and say, "Gay men kiss other men? I just thought they just sang show tunes and gave fashion tips."
@Sputnik_Sweetheart: I didn't even think it was that bad. It was less sexual than Britney's in her heydey. Yeah he was sorta off key, but he ran around and humped heads, and made out with people. I liked it. How many cringe-worthy musical performances have we seen over the years? His hardly tops my list.
@Sputnik_Sweetheart: It seemed like maybe he was trying a little hard to be controversial, but I'm not mad at him. If attention/publicity was his goal, mission accomplished.
@GirlFailer: Exactly. People are only up in arms because he's a dude; if any female performer had leash-slapped dudes and simulated sex on another woman, people would be anywhere between bored and horny. Oh wait, that's happened like 8 TRILLION TIMES.
@Sputnik_Sweetheart: I don't think it was that men kiss other men (admittedly, in some people's minds, it might be). Madonna kissed Britney, she did not shove her face in her crotch. She did not simulate fingering her back up dancer on a network. He went too far to be on ABC.
@DarcyMcCarbomb: It's because he's gay. Plain and simple. Britney pretended to be bent over by a dude on national telelvision... How many times now? So, a gay guy pretends to receive oral sex, and make out with another guy on national TV... OUTRAGE!!
@DarcyMcCarbomb: Outside of media that is specifically targeted towards the gay community, gay men are often portrayed as asexual sidekicks. It was really refreshing to see a gay man so openly embrace his sexuality (even if I found the performance itself to be meh, as I stated above).
Was I the only person who read Paula Deen "icing her face" as her actually ICING her face like frosting a cake??? I didn't even bat an eye, I just thought "Oh, typical Paula."
Okay, whew, so, Paula Deen was not purposely hit in the face with a ham. She just didn't know the ham was coming and accidentally got in hit in the face with a ham, which in her line of work, honestly, I'm surprised hasn't happened before. I thought that someone actually threw a ham at her as a form of protest which would have made me really, really mad. You see, Paula Deen is exactly like my mother, southern accent, big personality, big jewels, big hair, always made up, a love of cooking with butter/pork, loads of open displays of affection for her children/everyone she is around, flirtatious and a big drinker. If someone hit my momma in the face with a ham, I would be pissed. Real pissed.
@Jenloveshercurves: Oh, is that what it says in the article? I guess I should click the link before getting all pissed at an anonymous ham tosser. I have such fondness for Paula - I just want to go work with her. I'll scrub pots and pans, I don't care, as long as I'm there.
@missing_piece: Yeah, she was giving away Smithfield hams for a charity event and they were throwing the hams to be given to families and she was caught in the middle of a big ham toss.
@Jenloveshercurves: I love her, too. I'm actually working on a novel right now and I realized half-way through the planning stage that the mental picture I had for one of the characters was Paula Deen, so now my affection is even stronger.
@Jenloveshercurves: I'm glad to hear it was accidental too, because when I thought someone had deliberately winged a ham at her, I suspected my health-freak flax-cooking mother.
@AgainWithFeeling: I feel for you. I'm very happy that my mother is the stick of butter cook as opposed to the health freak and my heart is happy that see her only a few times a year.
Martha is the queen fucking bee of passive aggressive comments. I don't even think that she realizes she is making them anymore. She's like my gramma, with a prison rep.
@GirlFailer: I love how everyone is disappointed that she apologized. Um, people, Martha said "Yum-o." Voluntarily. Her tongue was so far in cheek, she probably looked like a chipmunk.
LOL Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson "frolicked." Why are celebrities constantly frolicking? I picture, like, running through fields and singing tra la la.
@jengrrrl: I also love when I hear about "canoodling." It sounds like it involves both pasta and cuddling, and where can I get some? I'm hungry. (P.S.- your avatar is delightful! Team Moss!)
Is there a place I can send flowers or does the writer from the LA times have a charity I can donate to? Surely they did not survive after reading and summarizing Spencer and Heidi's book. Bless their soul.
i will be buying timbalands record despite the fact that i don't actually own a cd player anymore.
i feel he needs to be appreciated for dropping that jerkface. regardless of why he did it.
At first I thought it was hysterical that Paula Deen got hit in the face with some ham, until I read on and realized that it was A ham and someone actually threw it at her face. People are assholes.
