Am I the only one who thinks the peacock dress is not nearly as pretty as a live peacock's tail? I just saw some strutting their stuff at an aviary and they were freaking awesome. I think the shimmy-and-shake they do is super important in making the feathers shimmer all pretty-like.
My understanding about boobs and nursing was that it's during pregnancy that breast tissue softens up, so you're going to have new boobs whether you nurse or not.
@f-words: I know that mine changed during pregnancy. Right now (while breastfeeding) they are actually smaller than they were during my 3rd trimester. But, on the other hand, 10 months of a kid pulling on them and the breasts filling and emptying and filling again is probably taking its toll.
but it's the MALE peacock that has the flashy feathers to attract the potential mate!!! the drunk single groomsman should be wearing a peacock suit, not the bride!
The fact that more mother 35+ have children with autism might not actually have to do with maternal age. There was a big Israeli study a few years ago found that paternal age was a correlate for autism, not maternal age (when paternal age was controlled for).
"2007 black college graduates made only 78 percent of the salary for comparably educated whites, which is the biggest disparity in pay between whites and blacks since 2001"
More proof for why people need to quit saying racism isn't a big issue anymore. I can't say I'm shocked by the numbers though...
I am always more disturbed of 2 people being accused of rape at the same time. Like 1 person doing it is horrible but that is 1 fucked up person acting with possibly no voice of reason/conscience. Two means that both of these men discussed raping this girl then both decided it was a good idea.
@Miss Scarlett is made of sugar and spice and everything nice: Yeah but I'm with you on your original reaction. They returned to her apartment after leaving on a call! Which means that they were in agreement -- great idea, let's go back and rape that drunk girl.
@Zombies make the heart grow fonder: I know - just because vaccines have been ruled out, they seem to be looking everywhere for the reason. Which is probably good, but a bit "grasping at straws" at times.
That said, this article makes me a bit nervous because I'm having a baby in two weeks. I'm over 35, he's my first AND he is breech. And male which already puts him in a higher risk group. There seems to be no shortage of things to worry about when you have kids it seems. Sigh.
@squirrelgirlie: Rest easy, I am sure that even if the article is true the "increased risk" is along the lines of 1% or some other very small amount. Best of luck with your birth!
@Zombies make the heart grow fonder: it's almost as good as the studies that come to conclusion of "more likely to die." if you sleep 12 hours a night and never smell coffee and bath in pure virgins' blood, you might NEVER DIE!
@PhillyLass: And pumping is apparently pretty physically taxing.
I started to get riled up but then I realised the child was 2 1/2. There really isn't evidence that breastfeeding that long is a necessary- that kid should be mostly on solid food anyway.
Even if this means the mom has to give up breastfeeding, I think fostering a strong father/child bond through longer vists is more important. If the ki was 6 months old, I'd feel the reverse.
@clevernamehere: Agreed. I definitely think the father should be allowed to remain involved in the child's life. But I would think there must be a way to honor both parents' wishes.
Hand feeding pet lambs is common, sextuplets not so much so. My father gets probably one set of quad a year, and twins and triplests are common. Problem is mother abandoning them, so it was always our job to raise the pet lambs. I've worked out I've probably had 60 pet lambs over the years. We got a bit morbid at the end and starting naming then Lamb Roast, Leg of Lamb, Lamb Rack....
Forgive me for saying this but if word gets out about Cabergoline, expect more women to use it.
It's sad thought and also important to note that American women have so much extra time and money on our hands that we can even consider using such a drug to prevent mom boobs aka sleepy titeys. I guess the real question is, which to do prefer:
Child with stronger immune system and better health or Nice rack until age 40
@CHIC NOIR: Oh my gosh, before making a blanket statement about the value of breastfeeding, PLEASE read some of the other Jez threads on it. There are so many pros and cons to breastfeeding, it can't be summed up in one sentence like that.
Also, like some people have mentioned, some women don't have all of that time and money you mentioned, and they have to go right back to work. They're our breasts, and we don't necessarily have to sacrifice them as baby-udders if we don't want to or can't.

Studies find that mothers who breath are more likely to have children with autism.
Fail.
