It's totally demode to do just one look on Oscar night! The ceremony's only half the deal; at VF's annual shindig, it's a whole 'nother ballgame. And plenty of stars skip the ceremony — but everyone goes to Vanity Fair.
Okay, let's do this thing. First of all, let's just admit it: the red carpet was confusing. Even the Good stuff was confusing. Even the "safe" stuff was confusing. And all the woman-eating sea creatures? Extremely confusing.

It's going to be okay. After the train-wreck that was the Golden Globes, the stars all showed, chastened and sheepish and back in form for Saturday's SAGs. Christina, Marion, Penelope...it's so nice to have you back!
There was something in the water in California last night, forcing otherwise well-dressed people to deck themselves in shockingly horrible getups. Maybe all of Hollywood lost a bet. All I know is, my jaw is permanently anchored to the floor.

Awards show season kept rolling right along last night with the 15th annual Critic's Choice Awards, and though not everyone left with a statue, the night was a victory for mostly everyone on the red carpet.
No, nobody aged really rapidly into a skeleton with Christopher Lloyd hair, but we the people came away almost as shocked from viewing the sartorial monstrosities on parade:
It's a mix of first-timers (Gabourey Sidibe, Carey Mulligan, Anna Kendrick, Diane Kruger, The Hurt Locker's Jeremy Renner) and superstars (Meryl Streep, George Clooney, Helen Mirren). Perhaps best of all, Betty White will get a lifetime achievement award. [SAG]
The Hamilton Behind the Camera Awards, which took place at the Hollywood Highlands last night, honors those behind-the-scenes but was itself camera-ready. I mean, when it's Zooey Deschanel, Zoe Saldana and Diane Kruger, how bad can it be? (Not rhetorical.)
Chanel's 'Fete d'Hiver' benefit for Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center was held, appropriately enough, at the Four Seasons (even if we would have called this more l'Automne.) And Blake Lively, Diane Kruger, Charlotte Ronson and friends looked amazing. Nina Garcia? Well....
For pure star power, variety of getups, successes and head-scratchers, the 16th Annual ELLE Women in Hollywood Tribute at Beverly Hills' Four Seasons Hotel scores some serious points. Especially for the spoonful of Julie Andrews.
Model Amber Rose has her own photo spread in the October issue of Elle magazine, but unlike some of the other celebrity types inside, Kanye's ladyfriend didn't exactly get the "high fashion" treatment.
