    I was there and cheered for her! It was a beautiful July-like day for Keystone Kops baseball. The Mets sucked just a bit less than the Nats did. I'm hoping Minaya is looking into signing this young woman up as a fifth starter.

    @athousandmillion: I loved Joey Cora! When my junior hockey team was eliminated from playoffs, I cried. My mom said "You're just like Little Joey Cora crying on second base!" My mom is rad.


    I am going back to watching baseball, since the return of Griffey. Also I have a weird softspot for the Jays. Yeah I don't get it...

    @CollegeBookworm: PS Mackenzie is still AWESOME. Just... sympathy, please? I think we're still the worst team in baseball, and we were just the worst team in baseball last year. Do I really have to suffer like this two years in a row?

    @CollegeBookworm: That's why I didn't change my allegiance from the Orioles when we got a team. The O's aren't always much better, but we're not starting from scratch and we seem to be doing okay this season. Plus, I grew up on Cal Ripkin.

    @lollapulizer: I'm a little late on this, but just to note- I never rooted for the O's. I'm not from Baltimore, I'm from DC, and Angelos is the asshole who kept DC from having a team for most of my life. Let's go Nats!

    My town didn't allow girls to play Little League. After you left tee ball, the girls had to play softball. That meant no uniforms or caps, just tee shirts, wearing shorts instead of baseball pants (because girls don't slide?) and being relegated to the secondary field while the boys used the one with bleachers and lights. I quit tee ball because the boys were spitting on me and stomping my hands when I reached down for the ball, and the coach wouldn't tell them to stomp.
