I just wrote a letter to Mr. Prager outlining in articulate but not uncertain terms what a total fuckwit I think he is. I received an auto-response telling me it is "very likely [he] will read my email"! Hahaha...if he does respond, I'll be sure to send it to the editors.
If whatever assistant you have reading these hatefilled, unprintable comments for your later perusal and possible condescending, dismissive reading on your show gets this far down, I hope he or she prints out this one for you.
You derailed Megan and Jeff into a discussion of what you literally said, what words you used, and what definitions you assign to those words.
What they should have asked you about was why you feel the sentiments underlying those words are appropriate. You said that it's a woman's choice to say no if her husband asks for sex - but in the same breath, said "but saying no all the time will damage the marriage"
If you really believe your column is a source for married couples to open a dialogue, you would do married people everywhere a much greater service by saying "Couples should discuss their sex lives" rather than making comments like "men are animals" and "women shouldn't say no just because they don't feel like having sex."
Believe men and women are different all you want, have Judeo-Christian values all you want, but please be aware that you offend and hurt women everywhere when you make statements like yours.

@Sergius Bauer: Where's the principle involved in a sense of sexual entitlement? Just because you're a married man doesn't mean you're entitled to possess your wife's body whenever you feel like it, or that she should push aside her personal preference/taste so you can do so. Sex should never be an obligation. If either party in a marriage is dissatisfied, they should discuss and settle it between them. In what world are moral principles upheld by laying the responsibility at the wife's feet and dubbing the man little better than an animal (but for the guidance of god).
I don't know what's so obviously decent about this man.
@Sergius Bauer: Welcome to Jezebel. I see this is your first time.
You believe that it is an obligation or a principle that a woman allows her husband to have sex with her, even if she doesn't want to? Just curious. There is a difference between a woman having sex when she is not in the mood - and being told that it is her wifely duty to do so continuously. I understood Dennis to be advocating the second. It is the emotional manipulation of a woman being told that she must submit or be the cause of a marriage's demise that is abhorrent.
@Sergius Bauer: Being married gives you the 'obligation' to love and support each other. That's it. Coercive sex is NOT part of the deal.
When one partner is in the mood and the other isn't you have two options: woo your partner -which is different than coercing your partner by saying it's their responsibility to have sex on command- or leaving it for a next time. Pretty simple. You know what? It also shows respect for your partner's feelings and thoughts.
I don't know what principles you have, but I'm really glad my husband doesn't seem to share them.
@Sergius Bauer: oh hon. I'm sorry but my reality has provided an example against you.
You see, my college roommate's mother was FORCIBLY raped by her husband. Multiple times.
She did not leave the man because she felt that it was her Obligation to stay in the family until her children were grown and out of the house. This is something she had been taught as a child preparing for adulthood.
She obliged the husband through the beatings and finally LEFT HIS COLD DRUNK ASS when my roommate's youngest brother turned 18.
Where is the line between obligation and rape in this situation? Was she doing her wifely duties as expected?
...she also left her church after the divorce was final.
And I do not HATE Pennis, er Dennis, I feel sorry for him. He clearly does not communicate with his wife.
@Sukie in the Graveyard: My mother was also forcibly raped by my father. He was engaging in a new business venture that took him out of the country for months at a time and she believed it was putting the family business at risk and hurting his family. As a result, since she was upset with him, she refused to have sex with him, so he raped her. So yeah. NOT FUN is how I would describe waking up at nine years old to hear my mother being raped by my father.
Dear Dennis: I really, really hope you (or your assistants) are reading these comments because I have one for you.
I've been married 23 years. To the same man. Unlike you. Also, unlike you, he does NOT demand sex regardless of my feelings in the matter. He values me, you see, because I'm his wife and he loves me. Sometimes he conceeds because I'm not in the mood (having 3 kids will do that sometimes, esp. to the mom, but you wouldn't know anything about that would you?). Sometimes he (GASP) actually spends some time wooing me! Isn't that AMAZING! And then we have the sex! And it's AMAZING!
Loving and valuing your wife. You might want to try that sometime.
Him and Roissy, man. They both seem so insecure that they have to trick or force women into having sex with them. And the only women who would voluntarily have sex with them on a frequent basis are obviously whores. What does that say about their confidence in bed?
@treecut...Grim Reaper of the forest: After thinking about it a little while, it's clear to me that men like them hate themselves and lead really miserable lives. Who could be happy acting that way?
"In 1980, Prager met his first wife, Janice Adelstein, who was a nurse. They were married on January 15, 1981. Their son, David, was born two years later. In August 1986 Janice filed for divorce."
"On September 4, 1988, Prager married Francine Stone, an actress, in a Los Angeles synagogue. In November 1992, the couple adopted a son, Aaron Henry Prager. On December 30, 2005, Prager announced on air that he and Stone were getting divorced. On December 31st, 2008 Prager entered into his third marriage to Susan Reed."
i liked at the beginning when Megan said that if a woman constantly doesn't want to have sex, there are bigger problems in the marriage and DP was all like "yeah yeah, i get that, so what, give me the sex and then we'll maybe talk about the other stuff but sex first please and then also this isn't emotional manipulation you are just overcome by your emotions and cant think straight please spread them now kthx."
Anna said this will be coming out as a podcast, so we can all listen then....I might even take one for the team and transcribe it if there's nobody at Jez to do so.
@Mkp-hearts-NYC: I'd be really interested to see how many times Penis Danger interrupts Megan and Jeff when they are in the middle of making a incontrovertible point, and what ridiculous and offensive comments he made right before a commercial...
@Mkp-hearts-NYC: That would be awesome. I don't think I can listen to the show in real time. If it's transcribed, at least I can take it in small doses so my anger and anxiety don't kill me.
Iceberg, eh? Yeah, being told sex is my JOB in a marriage, that MY feelings don't count but my men's do, that I am like a motherfucking HEN on a farm really makes me wet. What the fuck do you expect from women when you treat them like subhuman?
