I don't get Buble's comment. I hate it when an artist of any kind is critiqued and their come-back is "well lets see how well you can do it!" as if only other artists of that kind are allowed to have an opinion! It is one of my pet peeves.

I am pleasantly surprised to see that Viggo Mortensen quote included.

I was on the Kucinich presidential campaign, and what Viggo said is precisely what we were saying and thinking during the entirety of Obama's gradual rise in popularity... And now, of course.

It's true- nobody was talking about health care until K did, and then they shoved him out of the spotlight so the prettier faces (Obama &Edwards) could talk about it instead...

@szuperremek: ... and don't forget the sleazy feature stories on how he met his wife, too. He's trying to talk about real issues, and the press was like "lemme see that hottie." He finally had to do an article explaining how they met, and how a tall redhead from across the pond could love a short older guy from the states. I have never really felt sorry for a politician - they knew the spotlight would be on them as soon as they entered their first city council race and only get worse with time - but some of the stories about the Kucinich marriage were downright shameful and hateful, a "she could do so much better" kind of vibe. And all the while, I was hearing XTC's Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead play on my internal iPod, saying "Any kind of love is all alright."

@telecomic the thoughtful red panda: Yeah, they've made him out to be a total joke, a spoiler, a hack, a radical lunatic... with a sham marriage on top of all of it. Unfortunately it seems likely that nothing with his name attached to it will ever be taken seriously, but instead provoke eye-rolls from the handful who've heard of him. He's sort of had that going on his entire life, too.

Needless to say, I came away from this past election cycle jaded as ever about American politics.

I'm getting a little tired of Adam Lambert waxing on about everything under the sun, with no significant music to make him relevant. Maybe it's just me being out o the loop but i can't think of any of his songs that have been *really successful*. Maybe he should concentrate on that?

Also, how on earth have men NOT been using sexuality in their acts? Oh Adam, R.Kelly was shoving womens faces in his crotch when we were still in diapers. Granted, theres been no mn on man that I can think of, and I welcome it, just back it up with something better than formulaic/mediocre songs, will ya?

re: Robin Thicke and Paula Patton naming the baby so early - I've always wondered how parents to be can pick names out AT ALL before having the child. I've never been in that position, so it's not a judgment thing, just something I don't understand. How do you give someone that you don't know a name? I did not know that romantic comedies do not make that much money opening weekend. I figure Sandra Bullock is one of the queens.

It's probably the Twilight effect. They made money on people who wanted to see a movie (not Twilight) or drove someone who wanted to see Twilight.

@lilyHaze: I suspect it may have been more the sports aspect of the movie--romantic comedies usually don't make that much money because most men flatly refuse to watch them. It was advertised more as a heartwarming football movie than a romcom.
