Acrylic, polyester, and rayon don't trap heat. I can't stand clothes that are designed to appear warm but don't do their ostensible job. It's like "Let's add bulk but still leave women shivering at bus stops." One more rant: if "Imported" means "Made in China" just say "Made in China." Some of us are trying to boycott an oppressive country that kills its own citizenry in mobile death vans.
Sorry, I've been sweater-shopping this week because I am freezing my ass off and it's just maddening sorting through the racks at things that look cozy but aren't. Nothing is made of pure wool or cotton anymore, just cheap Chinese synthetics. I finally found some suitable stuff thrifting, but lordy, that's a time-consuming shopping method. #grumpyoldbiddy#delias
A lot of people are referencing their plaid memories of 90s grungedom, but I am a child of the late 90s Abercrombie and Fitch preppydom, and there was a lot of plaid there, too. I loved it then and I love it now. I have plaid converse and I love them :) #delias
@JerkoftheMonth: I'm so with you! I never got to experience true 90s grunge fashion. I'm kinda digging all the plaid. Acid wash jeans.. not so much. #delias
I wore plaid and "flannel" style clothing in elementary school. Loved it in fifth grade - wore it in Jr High as part of the baggy pants, short shirt underneath, boots look.
@wtfox?!: I've lived in L.A. for most of my life, and I really wonder why. I don't even like it here. Stupid economy stranding me here! I want coats, dammit! #delias
@wtfox?!: I love coats. I especially love military coats and coats in bright colors. I, too, would buy pretty much every non-plaid or -check coat shown here. #delias
@ladyfalcon is skin deep: Yes! Right now I have a regular black wool coat, which I love and looks classy, but I think some grey snowy days one really needs a bright coat to cheer things up. #delias
@wtfox?!: I have a wool coat in every color. Scarves and gloves too. Live in So Cal where it is generally 90º in the shade. I have to take vacations where there is snow. #delias
@wtfox?!: I sort of lost count of how many coats I own BUT, I live in Boston where the weather warrants all kinds of outerwear. Just this past Sunday it snowed but today it was in the mid 60s. If I ever leave New England I will definitely miss fall, winter, and spring.
I'm with you on the coats being too short and I'm not even a tall person! #delias
@velcrosneakers: To me, a proper coat keeps as much of you warm as possible. I look ridiculous in full-length coats, but love knee-length ones. My current coat is one such, and I adore it. #delias
I never know how to feel about the Blowfish boots. Part of me wants to like them, but is prohibited by the part that thinks it looks like you forgot to take off your slippers before you left for work.
And I covet the purple coats (just not the plaid, furry ones), but after all the posts today about the recession and moving back in with parents, I'm too scared to even look at the price tag. #delias
Does anyone else feel like the people over at the CFDA (is that what it's called? I still wear stuff from Gap) have had a running bet going for years now? Each year someone tries to introduce (or bring back) a more universally hated trend from another decade (pleated pants! tapered jeans! leggings! sweater vests! harem pants!) and see if they can convince the public to wear it. First one to come up with someone we'll actually refuse to wear wins. That jackpot must be millions by now... #delias
@BuffySummers: Do you really see them often? (I'm not sure I want to know the answer.) I'm in New York and I've only seen them twice, both during fashion week, and neither time was I the only bystander laughing. #delias
@Eriu: On the street? No, not that much (fortunately). But celebrities pushed the trend hard enough that I'm willing to call it a "win". Or in this case, loss. Plus, I have a feeling they just haven't trickled down to the masses yet (shudder). #delias
@BuffySummers: Harem pants were everywhere in Spain this summer. Normal women were wearing them-in all forms, from jumpsuits to hideous stripes, to plain old denim. It was kind of awful, and I have no doubt that they will be all over the US next summer. #delias
I buy pants from Delias because, no lie, they are the only place I can find ones that fit that are consistent in sizing more often than not. I don't know if it's because I'm super short, or what, but it's bizarre. And I feel weird about it because I'm 30 and it's a juniors catalog.
I don't mind a little plaid, but buffalo checks are actually really unflattering when they're not broken up with a solid tee or something. You just look like a giant block. It's strange.
They're really gone banana's with the checks, though. And yet, oddly, don't seem to have even a plain plaid skirt. Which I would wear in a heartbeat.
The shoes in 13, however, crack me up...becuase I'm pretty sure one of the style is called a "Hobbit". Which, because I'm a nerd, I find hilarious...since hobbits didn't need shoes. That's sort of a defining characteristic of the little buggers. #delias
@bluebears: It's a serious pain. I mean, I can't help it that juniors sizing fits me better, if depressingly. The cut and everything is just...I don't know. Women's clothing cuts and sizes seem to be made for just an entirely different body than mine. And frankly, I've gotten tired of not having pants. I like pants. #delias
@bluebears: Wow, that totally sounded like I go around pantsless or bottomsless. I do not. There's just been a lot of yoga pants with skirts, or other such things.
I just enjoy the freedom of sitting however the fuck I want to in pants. #delias

I can haz Buffy and four other strong female-driven nighttime dramas on major networks?
(I must confess: I saw those shoes at DSW about six months ago and I drooled. But I'm much, much too old now.)

I do not need to relive that.
