With all their Tweeting and Twittering going on, celebs are forfeiting their right to complain about the paparrazi invading their private lives. They're obviously dying to share all these intimate facts with the rest of the world.
Every time a neighbor stops by my house, I insist on offering them a nice cup of tea, some of my delicious homemade shortbread and then showing them my sex tapes. Hospitality is really a lost art these days.
@KiddyKat: and the diet like what many of us subsisted on in college...if not longer. In fact, I'd wager that in this economy, this is dinner for many a family.
I don't understand Margaret Cho's comment. I'm glad she's speaking out for Ling and Lee, but I'm confused why she's bringing completely unrelated people into it?
@NellMood: Anthony Bourdain is never far from my mind... when I think of people who travel and who wouldn't be easily taken into custody, Bourdain is not a far leap.
@lafleur: See, I think that's what bothers me about her statement- like, these women didn't fight hard enough? They should have been able to barter their way out?
I am sort of relieved to hear about Carradine's sexual proclivities. Not that it will bring him back but it means that he didn't intentionally harm himself..... does that make sense?
Pete and Ashlee sound like really mature people. Look, I understand flipping off the paparazzi or telling em to eff off or whatnot. But spitting on them is just...no. Then you're flirting with assault. But maybe I just dislike the couple because they named their child Bronx Mowgli.
@lalaland13: I like that the post said he spit on someone, and then immediately that he turned 30 - too old for such childish behaviour, no? (not that I condone battery at any age, but Ha. Ha. Ha.)
Also am I the only one who is shocked he is 30? I thought he was younger than me and so forgave that I couldn't like his crap music b/c he is one of those darn kids today with music I can't relate to.
@apocalypse-nowish: While any and all thoughts of Bourdain are pleasant in a tingly sort of way .... he hosts a food show. He's not doing investigative journalism. Totally different ballgame.
Also, I hate hate hate when bad things happen to journalists. I kind of think they should be a super-protected part of the population. Not paparazzi "journalists", but people who are risking their lives to report stories that wouldn't be heard otherwise.
Visual Effects Supervisor, Kevin Mack's Fight Club opening sequence was a truly groundbreaking shot - aside from the reasons he mentions, the fact that the brain is correctly mathematically rendered to scale, and that it is a single, uninterrupted camera movement without cut or transition, makes it an Orson Welles / Alfred Hitchcock shot the likes of which hasn't been seen in some time.
Yet, because of its' simple elegance, it is unobtrusive as an effects shot, and serves as a perfect foreshadowing, summarizing scene with which to open the story.

/end rant. Back to happy thoughts of Bourdain.
