"Miranda, I think you did a good job not losing your neck, and that mushroom cut is fieeeerce! However, your fellow moddle totally upstaged you in this shot. See how your hand is like, "ha," and her hand is like, "HA!"? That reminds me of when I was living with 33 other moddles in Paris...."
I've never watched the show or the movies but, for fans, I'm curious: don't these pictures kind of ruin it for you? I'm excited to see Alice in Wonderland and I've been bummed to see pictures of some of the characters already, I was hoping to be completely shocked when Helena Bonham Carter shows up on the screen. Don't any of you wish Carrie's 80's look was unveiled as you were watching the movie?
@JuneCarter: I don't really care, certainly not for this movie but even TV shows. Some people get really worked up, and while I would rather be surprised, there are far more important things to worry about, you know?
@BabyJane: Or the insurance costs?
These ladies are going to need an orthopedic surgeon soon.
There may possibly be a need for an ER visit and cat-scans when one of them falls and busts her noggin open.
Those shoes are brutal.

@emcnamara: You're so right! I am justifiably offended and incensed at such flagrant midriffian displays. The Sudanese know how to deal with a woman like that. STONE HER.
@emcnamara: I don't know what you meant by your comment but I thought the exact same thing. My reason for thinking that was 'For God's sake can they not make at least SOME concession to the fact that these characters are supposed to be about 40 by now - at least?'
I don't mean that older women's midriffs are horrible and should be hidden away. Whatever you want to wear is fine by me and I don't care how old you are. BUT. Women in their 40s do not generally dress like this. I don't know many who would be happy going out in this outfit. I personally find it offensive that SATC - like most other media depictions of women - cannot deal with women over 35. We all know this is a big problem and that older women are criminally under-represented on TV and in films. But the SATC franchise's technicalities means they are stuck with characters now much older than is 'desirable' in media-land. So instead of trying to deal realistically and interestingly with the way that women in their 40s ARE NOT THE SAME as women in their 20s (well, not usually...everyone's different, of course) the producers simply pretend that their 40-something characters are still in their 20s. That's offensive to me and a denial of what makes life rich and different at all its different stags.
@clochette: What's wrong with NOT dressing your age? Why don't you ask this 70 year old neighbor of mine who wears halter tops and short-shorts while rocking a blonde bouffant and fuchsia lipstick? She's a funny, happy lady who I love to talk to. When I see her outside watering in her "immature" outfits it makes me smile.
What offends me is anyone who wants to pigeon-hole people according to what is age appropriate, ESPECIALLY when it comes to grown-ups who have paid their dues and SHOULD be able to wear whatever the hell they want.
@SisterSonny: There's absolutely nothing wrong with 'not dressing your age'. I don't even think the concept of 'dressing one's age' should exist! You should, as I said, wear what you want, regardless of what age you are. It's your prerogative. My point was that there's no recognition in SATC of the realities of life for many women in their 40s. I know it's not supposed to be biting social realism or anything, of course. But the issue for me is that the 'average' 40-something woman who doesn't feel comfortable wearing, say, a crop-top, because of societal pressures, is apparently just too boring and too frumpy and not interesting enough to be the subject of a film. No, we can only show women in their 40s if they still act and dress very youthfully, because at the end of the day, youth is good and being middle-aged is bad and so if we pretend they're young and not middle-aged it makes them more interesting characters. The SATC characters are essentially 20-somethings, regardless of the number associated with their apparent age.
It's certainly a fine line between prescribing certain behaviours as 'middle aged' and others as youthful. I don't mean that middle-aged women can't wear crop-tops. But many don't, because society makes them feel too old and not fit enough to do so. Society censors the less-than-slender and the less-than-flat-stomached. And Carrie's character just perpetuates that. Basically I wish there was a TV show or a film that recognised that life for many women is different when they're 40 than when they were 25, and that embraces those differences, rather than writing off women who DON'T fit the youthful mould as too boring or frumpy or whatever to merit being the subject of a film or a show.
The bag is Lanvin, Carrie's shoes are Louboutin I believe, although Dolce Vita are making some similar ones this season for less than $250. Dunno Miranda's shoes.
