Thanks to the recession, Cuban cigar makers have finally realized there's a huge, previously untapped market of female smokers. To reach this elusive group, executives have announced the creation of the Julieta, a female-friendly (read: smaller and lighter) cigar. [Reuters]

I was only half-heartedly looking for fashion in Cuba — it helped justify my presence there awhile back — and didn't really expect to find it. Still, somehow fashion — on "runways," even in a magazine — was everywhere.

Cuban authorities announced that they are offering free penis implants to men whose "sexual suffering does not respond positively to traditional treatments." While over-40s and those with diabetes are given first priority, the government program will soon be expanded. [Independent]
