I'm intrigued, but can false eyelashes screw up your real ones? I don't mean to be immodest, but my natural eyelashes are pretty awesome, and I don't want to ruin 'em.

@stealthird: My friend went to Mac and had them professionally done (they stay on for like a week at a time for $30) and when she took them off they tore out her natural lashes. Poor thing looked like Bambi after a hurricane.

So, I'd stick with the $4 ones, I've never had a problem with those.

oh jeebus. I have 5 of the makeup forever and shu umera lashes. I just realized that I just spent about 100 dollars on false eyelashes. Practical I am not.

@privityofestate: For my last birthday party I splurged on some Shu Uemura fake eyelashes. The problem is I bought them online and they are drag queen size. I am five feet tall and teeny. To the back of my medicine cabinet they went!

okay, i have an eye condition that requires a drop, and a side effect is the drop encourages the growth of uber-long and thick lashes. being able to see your own eyelashes is not all it's cracked up to be, let me tell you. but i'm now thinking that i really really want to go home and clip them into some zig-zag shapes tho.

I love wearing false eyelashes, except for the part where I want to tear at my eyelids all night. I might try the L'Oreal Beauty Tubes mascara when it hits Canada instead.

i like the lace ones, and the feathers -- but it only works if you go to a very eccentric party. otherwise -- you'll look like the lone eccentric, and that's never good for the overall image...

I *love* the lace ones on the pale-painted model, and everything about the Harlequin makeup in general.

Hate the creepy foot-long "lashes"; the model looks dead.

@Treeless: I can't help this, but the harlequin makeup on the model's face reminds me of the checkerboard design that used to be fashionable to shave into race horses' butts.

But I do kinda like the lashes even though I would never have worn them...I would have wanted to but have never, ever had the chutzpah to do so.

For those wanting to try false eyelashes but can't get them on right or whatever, I suggest you try L'Oreal's 'Beauty Tubes' mascara. It's awesome 'falsies in a bottle' mascara.

False eyelashes, Recessionista-style: Simply pick up a dead bird from the street - or from under your window, if you're lucky! (Blackbirds, robins and bald eagles work especially well this season.)

Next, remove both wings and stick one to each eyelid using whatever superglue or extra-strength paste you have around the house. Easy, breezy, beautiful - and cheep!

Someone needs to tell me the secret of getting fake eyelashes on. I had some this year for Halloween and must have spent over an hour trying to geth them on. They were curved the opposite way of my eyelid.. so they didn't want to stay put on the ends. What is the secret to getting these babies on!
