Cramps are caused by prostaglandins (little chemical balls of pain) and so one of the best treatments is to prevent the production of these pain-balls with high dose (i.e. 800 mg) ibuprofen.

after doing this for 1 month, the cramps were completely gone. no expensive prescription. i was simply missing some nutrients that improved the tone of those muscles involved with cramping.

Being that I love beer and other fabulous carbs, I haven't tried it yet.
I will definitely try the natural supplements though. Thanks for that! I'm not a fan of taking Advil every month, but necessity calls sometimes; if I can avoid it that would be great.

i know for a fact that, as a vegetarian, i ate no meat during that time, and didn't limit my carbs at all. the supplements worked without these dietary restrictions.
the years i ate meat every day did nothing to decrease the cramps. but i've never really reduced carbs in my diet.

Yes. Ultrasounds are criminally expensive in the States. I recommend Canadian residency for fibroid-riddled Jezzies.
