    Unfortunately the full honor of a traditional Glamour cover has not been bestowed upon the First Lady, as she is still reasonably recognizable in her airbrushed glory.

    Also, I wonder if one of the stipulations made by Mrs. O and her people was the absence of inane coverlines surrounding her image. There's nothing about a Secret Sex Spot or Boobs!! or Sex Slavery Escapees. Refreshing. #michelleobamaglamourcover

    Michelle Obama is lovely. But I'm kind of sick of seeing her styled like a pretty pretty princess.

    I get that it's Glamour, and not Business Week or Serious Lawyers With Fancy Degrees Weekly, but falling snowflake/stars? Really? I can tell it took every ounce of restraint for them not to put her in a tiara. #michelleobamaglamourcover

    @Tart of Darkness: Actually, Obama's approval ratings have been going up the past few weeks and seem to have stabilized from their summer slump.

    @Tart of Darkness: Yup, we need Michelle in a pretty dress, because closing Guantanamo, ending torture as a military policy, adding GBLT to hate crimes protection, Cash for Clunkers, limiting executive pay for top TARP banks, extending unemployment benefits and reducing COBRA health insurance payments for the unemployed in his first 10 months in office certainly requires ladymag covers to distract from his lack of accomplishment. #michelleobamaglamourcover

    @pantsless economist...access RESTORED: I think that, after the unfair ways in which she was demonized during the campaign, the East Wing has sought to soften her image but still show her as effective by giving her softballs that speak well to the American pubic. I think they're trying to ease her into a more prominent, policy-driven role by ensuring that the nation is "comfortable" with her first so as to not end up in the same sort of situation that Hillary Clinton found herself in. #michelleobamaglamourcover

    I eagerly await the pearls of wisdom housed in that "Relax! 7 reasons guys love you just the way you are" story. Which, will inevitably be followed by a spread about how to make yourself sexier to please a man, then 40 diet tips from a celebrity trainer and then the requisite "HEY! It's ok to..." piece. The cognative dissonance required to read one of those magazines cover to cover is more than my noggin is capable of exercising. #michelleobamaglamourcover

    @lilbobbytables: They get nothing from me. I got a box of pads a while back and it had a code for a free sub to certain mags. I was on the fence, but I think I'm gonna go home, enter the code at that Web site and get me some free ladymags. I think I'll still be able to get this one, even if a little late.

    Of course, I may have to cancel in a few months when they put a Kardashian on the cover, but at least I won't lose anything. #michelleobamaglamourcover
