@brendastarlet is on it: I remember a Christina Stambolian that could be described that way whch she wore to a dinner on the air date of prince BBC interview, had short hem and trailing chiffon, whole thing black chiffon with ruched fabric, off the shoulder, impossibly fab, major swoon.
Karl Lagerfeld seems, at least to this middle-class Jersey Girl with questionable taste, like the living embodiment of the clothing makers from The Emperor's New Clothes. I'm so not jazzed. Not like he'd care.
The best thing I can say about this stuff is that at least it's not made, for the most part, from the pelts of cruelly raised and killed animals, like some of the work we've seen this week. So disappointing that fur continues to reign...but I guess I'm wrong to hope for sensitivity to animal issues when these designers repeatedly show us they have no sensitivity for people issues.
@JerseyGrrrl: Repeatedly. Fashion resides in a special zone of the Cruelty Planet, where nothing matters except detailing. Lagerfeld has yet to top the jackets for the ready to wear day suits for spring 2003 with the destroyedmode of frayed edging. His designs sort of peaked there and almost all that comes later has the sensation of some proteges doing most everything for him.
I think the collection is wierdly wearable. It's generally gorgeous and the workmanship is fantastic, but I kept thinking "Oh, that's not crazy. Oh, I could wear those shoes!"
@Annabellie: My favorite is "You sound wise. Are you being wise?" "No, but one time I woke up stupid." "Oh that's horrible, what did you do?" "I went back to bed." "That was wise"

I imagine we'll see this on the red carpet fairly soon.
I wasn't crazy about most of the collection, but this and this: [cache.gawker.com]
those I can go for.

"What's that gun doing there?"
"It's not a gun. It's a camera."
"It's a gun."
"It's a camera that looks like a gun."
