@logruszed: I agree with her. I was astounded during the primaries that so many people thought he was a real mover and shaker. He was Mr. "Present" as a Senator and always seemed diplomatic enough but never really COMPELLING to me on any issue besides racism, which is kind of a "soft" issue as far as policy goes. The line that he would be the inspiration and just, "have really good people" was trotted out a bit too much for my comfort too, considering that is the same thing people said about Bush when he was elected. That said, I think he is incredibly intelligent, inspiring, all around great-guy who I voted for; courageous? Mmm... In many ways yes, but for pushing an agenda, that remains to be seen.

Sali Berisha is a no-talent assclown who uses "fiighting corruption" as a means for promoting his own family members and hangers-on, and still thinks he can sling propaganda around like it's 1992. and apparently he can - despite having been literally run out of the country in 1997 after the collapse of the pyramid schemes, was elected again in 2005. then again, his opponent was Fatos Nano - who was also ran out of the country earlier and elected again at a later period (anyone else here detecting a pattern). Anyway, I'm sure all the Albanians who are going about their days, as the winter approaches, with dwindling electricity and water, really care deeply about Mother Theresa's remains. This is a guy who, confronted with said electricity shortages, suggested that Albania build a nuclear power plant. If you haven't been to Albania, it may not seem as absurd, but, trust, this is a country where an explosion of WW2 era munitions took out a huge chunk of Vora, not to mention the grid is so decrepit that about 70% of power is lost in transmission, well, you can guess how a nuclear power plant could work out.

Anyway: Albania, fun times, fun times.

Also, true story: when I was an exchange student in Germany, the people running the program had us watch that Simpsons episode. One of the kids in our group's family was from Albania. Turns out, the language Adil is speaking during his transmissions? Not actually Albanian. #rapists

Princeton's new dorm is a good gesture, but still misguided. Putting all transgendered students who want gender-neutral housing in one dorm isn't a boon to them, it's practically segregation. Last year, my school made ALL dorms gender-neutral...it really isn't even noticeable. Why couldn't Princeton have done that?

Can we please make it illegal to compare anybody who hasn't committed genocide to Hitler?

We'll make the penalty a 13 week course on the Holocaust. The course will include trips to concentration camps and Holocaust museums, readings of Eli Weisel, Primo Levi and other survivors, and listening to the audio recordings David Boder made in the 1940s.

Because swear to god, if I listen to one more ignorant asshole make a Hitler comparison I'm gonna lose it.

@BuffySummers: The boys in my ragtag little group in high school absolutely LIVED for doing this to eachother. And then taking pictures of the results and showing them to everyone. The usual stuff like drawing dicks on faces, but some grosser things like pasting sliced cold cuts on foreheads and emptying ashtrays into pockets. My friends were kinda gnarly.

@SmallbutMighty: Yeah, the article seems to highlight the wrong part of the story. I also meant that it just seemed to miss the point. Rather than using this as a particularly bad example of a trend that's been developing, the article's message was "look what happened, it's shocking!" The creepy part is that most people don't think it's that strange of a thing to have happen at all.

@SmallbutMighty: I think if someone had drawn a dick on her arm and left it at that, it would be one thing. But she was covered in marker. And most of it was about cocks, balls, dicks, penises, etc. I'm sorry, but the excessive use of male genitalia on an out lesbian is not a coincidence. I've seen people get shit drawn on their face or whatever--but nothing like that. Really, it was excessive, and I feel like the sexual assault that happened earlier was an indication of the intentions of this other, weirder harassment.

@Cimorene: Take a look at collegehumor or do a search for "drunk shaming". Drawing dicks is par for the course, and in fact in many circles it is referred to as "dick-facing" someone because the dicks are ubiquitous.

This "fad" used to be almost uniquely male oriented, and it consisted of dicks and profanity. There is no reason, given the historical context of what the drawings typically consist of, to think her status as an out lesbian caused the drawings to be dicks.

The focus should be on the sexual assault, and possibly on the posting of the images online. But drinking yourself into a stupor in a group doing the same thing means she has no more maturity in that regard than the people with the markers.

@cynicalbeatle: That's not necessarily true. If you get them from a free range farm, there's a chance that they are fertilized. There's really no way to tell the difference between an egg that was laid by a hen that got it on with a rooster or a hen that's just laying eggs, at least not by looking at it. If the egg is collected the same day that it's laid and the hen isn't allowed to incubate it, no one is the wiser.

@GirlFailer: Yeah, but still ... the article doesn't say how old the kids were, but a 29-year-old woman should hopefully know better than a bunch of kids. My son asks me to do ridiculous things all the time, but as the adult, I use some judgment about if it's a good idea or not.

I know, I know, it's just puddles ... but it's the mom in me! They could catch cold! Plus, my grandma told me I could get polio playing in puddles!
