I was at work at the bookstore this morning, and roundabout 11 'o clock people started calling and coming in asking for Malkin's new book, Culture of Corruption, so I figured she must've been on some show this morning. I wanted to smack some sense into all the people buying it, because it's vile, but alas. I can not.
It was really weird, though, because every person who asked for it posed their request like so: "I'm looking for this book. *Passes me slip of paper with title.* Are you sold out?" It seemed weird the first time, because why would we be? We had 7 or 8 copies on the new arrival table. Then I realized that they really think it is SO GOOD and SO HONEST that everyone must be clamoring for a copy! *headdesk*
She looks almost exactly looks like my cousin, except my cousin doesn't suffer from a mad case of self-loathing. Someone mentioned Dave Chapelle earlier. Malkin reminds me of Chapelle's blind black leader of the KKK ranting on and on about the blacks without being aware that he's black himself.
I'm Asian, and I'm telling you all right now: We're not claiming her. I haven't listened to a word she says since she argued that Japanese-Americans deserved to be interned in WWII.
The batshit, white racist demographic is welcome to her self-loathing ass.
She just seems really mad. In my opinion if you identify real issues based on fact, you don't need to be so aggressive in making your point. It makes itself. She just seems like she's on a warpath which makes me tune her out immediately.
Who's calling whom a racial opportunist? Don't Conservatives love MM because she's a hot woman of color who takes all their nonsense and runs with it to the Nth degree?
You're not a WASP. You're never going to be a WASP. It's so embarrassing how noticeable it is that you wish you were white. Taking up conservative white people's causes will not endear you to them. Honey, get some counseling for that self-hatred of yours.
I watched Glen Beck the other day, and I think there's the same (crazy) undertones to it. I feel like they're castigating people for believing what appears to be well documented facts (President Obama was born in America, Michelle worked hard, there are problems with race and healthcare in the country), only to tell them something different, with crazy eyes and yelling and outrage. It makes me stabby.
I don't understand why we give these people airtime. Next are they going to let on on a guy with a tinfoil hat? Maybe some skinheads? Oh! Lets let on those people who think 9/11 was done by our government!
A crazy is a crazy is a crazy. Letting them think they're legitimate is just mean.
@greengrey thinks the layout sucks/swallows: There was a guy on the subway platform today who was yelling profanities about the MBTA service. I think he made more sense than Michelle Malkin.
@greengrey thinks the layout sucks/swallows: News shows have devolved into those awful 19th-century type attractions, where people would pay to go into insane asylums and see the crazy people acting crazy.
@greengrey thinks the layout sucks/swallows: And aren't there any rational conservatives out there who are embarassed by this? Shouldn't they be trying to get their party back by making their voices heard? Right now it seems like the only Republicans left are in tin hats and Sarah Palin t-shirts.
@dianersb was bit by a zombie: Every now and then I hear this dude ranting about money being fake, the government has been overthrown and none of us realize it, and we're going to see a new world order where for some reason we have no more technology.
They should put him on the morning show. He'd be more interesting and I bet his positions are better researched than that of the average conservative nutjob.
@BearDownCBears: No lie, last month I was in court for an argument and one of the cases ahead of us was a plaintiff who argued that the WTC was brought down by the govt using "high-energy weapons." The lawyer angrily said "my client is being treated as if she wears a tinfoil hat!" Gee, I wonder why?
Also, was it me or did Matt Lauer kinda sorta roll his eyes a little tiny bit at the very end of the segment when he said something like, "That's a lot of commentary..." right before it went to commercial. I swear it.
Man, the crazy in her eyes when she says "pandering to diversity" sent chills up my spine. She just doesn't see the irony in that statement, since she's pandering to non-diversity. Just another "botched failure."
@amusezvous: What really bothers me about that statement is that:
1. The term "diversity" is not used literally, but mockingly. Diversity is seen as some sort of pollution in our society, as if it were a bad thing.
2. They are incapable of comprehending the fact that White, Rich, Christian Males DO TOO vote based on their own backgrounds and prejudices. Biases are not exclusive to racial minorities.
It's baffling how so few people are able to grasp that last one.
@Mafalda para Presidente: This. That last one always, always angers me. Even my white, male, rich father went ballistic when they tried to claim Sotomayor would base her judgments on biases. I've never seen him so angry. As he put it : "what the fuck do they think Alito and Scalia are doing on the bench?" But apparently, to these wingnuts, that's the status quo.
Given her obvious non-European heritage, I'd almost venture to say she has some issues about race herself. Perhaps she thinks if she keeps spewing this hate those white Republican people will eventually like her.
I don't want to devote too much brain power to the Lynn Sweet conspiracy theory, but if Obama's answer backfired on him, why are the crazies so intent on proving that he wanted someone to ask him that in the first place? To prove he is so desperate to insult white cops and real Americans that he will plant questions?
@Grim Reaper of the Forest: that's what is so weird. like if he is some stealth manchurian candidate who only pretended to be post racial and all, why would his big coming out party be this throwaway comment at a press conference? There is so little sense in it it is impossible to refute except with sputterings. This is, as far as I can see, how the GOP wins all these stupid points. Just be so insane that everyone is too busy picking their jaws off the floor to say anything.
